Why would I have a meltdown--its not like this hasn't been trumpeted everywhere for the last few months.

The important thing from here on out is for WVU to position itself for the years 2022-2025 when realignment rears its ugly head again.

Competitively they are on a good path right now--hopefully can keep that up
Academically I would implement sending students that can't hack it to regional campuses asap--WVU MUST raise its academic profile deserved or not by 2022 at the latest. Hope those in state govt. realize this.

On a "civic" level runway extensions, new hotel and entertainment complexes might be a good measure as you need to attract others-especially TELEVISION types.

Also, I would push the league to move to 8 conference games so WVU can build more relationships with ACC and SEC schools over the next decade.

From a media relations perspective, this conference literally crapped the bed. Making all this public of looking into expansion and then saying, "Well... nevermind". It would have been best to say nothing and go about it quietly.

Or... don't do it at all.

Not going to say "I told you so" but...

Ok, Big XII, champion the round-robin, push for on-demand programming options and web presence, and supplement the TV deal with that new revenue stream. Show the other P5 conferences that bigger isn't necessarily better. We weren't added for TV markets and honestly neither was TCU. We were both added for being solid programs with actual fan presence. Re-evaluate a few years from now and if we think that what we have isn't good enough, and there's a no-brainer out there, then we expand.

Was listening to the 'Gunther and Ben Show' on 1320AM KFAN here in SLC. They sound a little sour about BYU not getting invited and that there appears to be no expansion occurring.

Then they discussed that BYU cannot fiscally go beyond 10 years remaining in an independent status. The were thinking MWC or AAC and preferably AAC within the next 3 - 5 years.

I was hoping BYU would come, only for the chance to see WVU in Provo. But oh well...
