KSU - TT which extreme is true?

TT D is definitely really bad. That has been seen in multiple games. TTU offense isn't a slouch, but might not be "really good" as you put it. WVU O isn't bad. They might not be living up to expectations, but not bad. WVU D is not really good. Better than expected with the losses from last years unit, but still not "really good."

What's the expectation for next week? Shootout? I still can't peg this team and the KSU-TT result isn't helping. TT scares me coming off a loss, I'm glad we have the bye to prepare

It is hard to peg this team. I think TTU has some good players and will hit some home runs against the youth and aggressive WVU defense. The offense should have some easily sledding, but must not shoot themselves in the foot. I've said it all year, the offense should be the strength of this team and against TTU its not expecting too much for 35+ points given only SFA and doormat Kansas failed to put up less than 44 points.

Exactly.....next week we need to run the ball 65% of the time, or more. Control the amount of touches Mahomes and their offense gets. That style of offense has shown time and time again that if you frustrate them by running the ball, controlling the clock, and limiting possessions that they will rush when they have the ball and attempt to force the ball and result in turnovers.

One way to judge WVU's defense this year. Nearly every offense has scored below its season average against the WVU defense. That's a telling trend. A good thing.

The Big 12 is wide open this year. This may be WVU's best chance to win the Big 12 title, if we ever do. Long road ahead, though.

West Virginia, Baylor and Oklahoma are the only Big 12 teams without a conference loss, and no one has played more than 3 conference games.

Only West Virginia and Baylor are unbeaten in all games and no one has played more than 6 games.

Kansas State beat Texas Tech, WVU’s next opponent.

I'd say it's looking pretty promising for WVU. Just have to avoid the collapse of the 5-0 start to 7-6. If everyone keeps that in mind, and keeps playing aggressively and in high tempo, who knows? I could happen.

Noticed the haters didn't have much to say about that

MSU is 2-3 with losses to BYU, Indiana (yes were talking football), and a blowout loss to Wisconsin. Wins over ND (2-4) and Furman. If it makes me a hater to point that out so be it, but BYU is ultimately a 6-6 type of team with a solid schedule, its a good win but one to be expected if were actually a contender for the conference title.

Agree with all but the WVU O. Hate to use the "M-word" (mediocre), but the red zone offense leaves a lot to be desired and will ultimately be our down-fall in some game this year. I just hope it's not this week or that it ever happens. Maybe another off week will yield improvement in this area.

I look at it like this. Texas Tech has a good offense but a poor defense. West Virginia is a more complete team. If we play to our potential, I don't see us losing on Saturday. If we go tuck our tails between our legs and lay a big egg, we will get run out of the stadium.

I think you're correct about being more complete, but they have the better QB.

I hear they have a poor defense, but I worry our O is worse than we suspect.

Scoring on the ground and sustaining drives, getting pressure on their QB, and not turning it over.

BYU is a good team. NO team has beat the Cougars by more than 3 points. BYU is 10 points away from being undefeated. That's not exactly chopped liver.

Indiana lost to Wake Forest by 5, beat Michigan State by 3 and gave Ohio State a rough go of it before the 38-17 loss.

It has nothing to do with being a hater or homer. It's just facts. BYU is a solid team, despite all the close losses. Indiana is not your father's Indiana football.

Yeah, agree on BYU. They aren't great but are a tough out. Stewart Mandel mentioned they are 3-3 against the toughest schedule in the country to date.

BYU has three more road games against above average competition; Miss St tonight, Boise St and Cincinnati before a bye week. That bye is their only off week since the beginning of the season. They finish at home with three pretty weak teams; Southern Utah, UMass and Utah St. The first nine games on their schedule are all tough opponents.

Interesting that they get an automatic bowl game, the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl against a MWC opponent. I guess they have to finish 6-6 at a minimum to qualify.
