.....but if not, I've been wondering what the polls look like if Mitt was the GOP nominee this year. I myself find it hard to believe he wouldn't be in the lead; possibly comfortably.

Oh, and I still don't think polls......at least this time around......are very meaningful YET. What's interesting in THIS election is how volatile they just might continue to be into October.

Speculation can be 100% accurate. However, I tend to believe that Mill would not be a strong candidate after his very poor performance during his last campaign. He folded under limited pressure from Obama and would not really wage a strong fight. What is really needed now is strong top to bottom support for Trump. The country cannot allow a poor candidate ike Hillary to be swept in because of petty disagreements with what Trump occasionally says. Her actions and inactions should be so overwhelmingly compelling that the choice for Trump is obvious.

I agree with you on Hilliary but Trump has got to quit shooting himself in the foot, knee and hip. Stcik to the message that Hildabeast is a liar and crook.

My question was based around the assumption......which I admit I did not make clear......Mitt's political cycle would have bypassed 2012 and run him rather into the 2016 election.

I think it's funny that both candidates basically drew the ONLY candidate from the other side that they'd have a chance to beat.

I agree with that; which makes Trump's current status (IMO) a fairly clear indication as to how poor a candidate he happens to be.

Not that you asked, but I'd replace the word "funny" in your statement with sad. Perhaps you'd agree with that......

I disagree with this. Hillary is the same versus any gop candidate. Cruz would have his own struggles if he was the nominee and I believe Hillary would beat him. More level headed candidates such as Kasich, Jeb, Marco, Hillary would have a much greater chance of losing to them. All others in that gop primary field, Hillary wins easily.

So far, Hilliary is the only one who has gone on network news and lied about what she has said with video proof of it. The Foundation is a shakedown entity. I believe they learned that from Jackson and Sharpton on how to shake people, countries down. Trump needs to stay on message, people know Hildabeast is a liar and untrustworthy.

I'm not pissed off, I was just pointing out what Trump has done over the last 5 days. Unforced errors. I just got my flight transferred to earlier today so I can se my daughter do her dance talent at Miss America's Outstanding Teen. Incase you missed, my daughter is Virginia's Outstanding Teen in Miss America system.[banana]

The last five days? Shirley you can't be serious, he's put his foot in his mouth damn near every time he's opened it since he got in the race. And it's become all more noticeable now that all the focus is on him and Hillary -- during the primaries he got some cover from the other idiots. But his campaign manager made a good point on the radio this morning: They aren't going to win (or lose) in August, but in November.

Well done to your daughter by the way.

Well, I was just speaking of the last week or so. When you start at the big disadvantage that the Repubs have in numbers, you can't make so many unforced errors because the press isn't going to call Hiliary on anything. Thanks for my daughter, she has doen this while dancing three nights a week, starting high school soccer and basketball and keeping a straight A average.

You have a great point. I think the Repubs were so mad at the establishment repubs for not standing up to Obama, I don't think there really was much they could do anyway, that they took it out on the mainstream candidates. I would think that several of those mentioned would be more disciplined against Hiliary.

She's cooking steaks for everyone? How did I miss that? Medium rare for me please.

Seriously though, good luck (or break a leg if you are superstitious) to your daughter in the pageant. I'm sure she's a great dancer, but steaks to order as a talent? Think about it - it's a non-bribe bribe to the judges.

Very proud dad, very few young ladies ever get the chance to say that they have a state title that requires more than looks. She can also fix dents in your bumper, my wife heats them up with a hair dryer and she gets under there and pushes the dents back out. She told the judges she was their go to girl if you needed your bumper repaired. She's the youngest to ever win the Virginia title and she will be at a disadvantage against the older girls. The age goes up to 17 and she's 14 truning 15 this month.

Petty disagreements with what the man says....... She is a liar and he is an idiot. I think he has said enough over the last 6 months to prove he is unfit to be President. Lordy how did we get to this point in American Politics?

There are definitely a few/couple that would have gotten my vote over Hillary. A couple would mop the floor with her now, I think, especially with the email fiasco and everything else.

Somebody else said it, but I agree that I think it speaks to the weakness of Trump as a candidate that even with all of that against Hillary that he is still behind.

I certainly would have voted for Kasich or Bush instead of Hillary, and I think either one of them would be leaving her in the dust if the people who now comprise Trump's base had a clue. It's like 2000 all over again -- I'll believe to my dying day that McCain would have whipped Al Gore like a rented mule, and that with him as president there would have been no invasion of Iraq. But the GOP didn't have the good sense to nominate him then, and by 2008 it was too late.

I agree. I'm not sure who else out of that clown car would have gotten my vote. Maybe none of them.

For me, either the republicans were going to nominate somebody decent or I was voting 3rd party again.

Heck if McCain doesn't pick Palin in 2008, he wins the election then.

That's a stretch to say the least. Yes Palin was a horrible choice and she may have hurt him somewhat. But she also brough populists to the election and probably added some. McCain's downfall was the economic collapse. Stuff like that always gets tied to the party in power, fair or not. When he temporarily suspended his campaign, then came back, and as the true depths of the economic damage were becoming clear, McCain's ship sank. No one would have survived that, regardless of who the nominee was. It wasn't close from there and Obama had a cakewalk.
