Thinking about depth of the DNC party

Right now the DNC has Hillary which is basically like having David Beckem in his prime for you. My question is if Trump pulls off the miracle this Nov. and after this election cycle, nothing will surprise me, but if he pulls off the miracle, Clinton will effectively be out of commission. Who is waiting in the wings? We all saw Obama coming after the 2004 convention. Hillary has been a mainstay for the DNC since 04 as well. What does the DNC have coming off the bench, no one popped up this election cycle that in 4 years might make a run. Who are the DNC up and comers?

I think the reason nobody popped up this time was because everybody knew Hillary was going to win anyway. If Trump wins I bet lots of Dems will be running in 2020. Even if their names aren't big now, they'll make their names big by getting on TV and doing trips to Iowa and NH starting in 2017 if Trump wins.

What will be interesting to see how much traction the Bernie Sanders wing of the Democrat party will get. Was he a flash in the pan or will all that stuff he was pushing become part of mainstream Democrat stuff?

That's a good point. The Dem convention a big stage for non-big names to become a big name. Obama did it in 2004 even though at the time there was a decent chance that he wouldn't realistically be able to run for POTUS until 2012

The name I'll throw out is Cory Booker, junior senator from NJ and former mayor of Newark. He's 47 years old, and he definitely wins in the charisma department over the candidates we are facing in this election cycle. I'd say 2020 is his first legitimate opportunity to run, but he'll only be 63 in 2032. He has a lot of time to build a better resume ... or do something mind-numbingly stupid to disqualify himself.

Honestly, Hillary could call me out by name and say that she was going to personally enrich my life in her acceptance speech and I wouldn't vote for her.

I don't think I have ever seen someone as fake as she is in my lifetime. She is the product of focus groups, period. She goes wherever the analytics take her. Reminds of the time in 08 when she was campaigning and couldn't even make a call on who she was supporting in a baseball game for her fear of alienating some voting demo. If you can't even answer truthfully and with conviction on who your favorite sports team is that to me says you have no true purpose in life other than to be the first female President of the US. She is legacy hunting and nothing more and will do or say or support anything that will achieve that objective. I want her denied because she doesn't deserve it.

Looks to me like she will need a tremendous amount of support at Dem Convention. Ever positive they make in their speeches, the republicans can send out a team the next day to torpedo those speeches. This is where Fox comes in to give a venue on which to make those counter punches and Hillary has definitely furnished the material.

I think he still stands a chance later in his career. His only highlight on the national stage was not positive. He has time to reform that image, but not for 2020. If I were to give him advice, I'd tell him to drop out of this race today. In a field this large, you have to be able to stand out. He hasn't done that. Yang is still in the mix (with horrible numbers) because he's talking about stuff no one else does. He has a niche. Booker does not, at least not today. Maybe I over estimated his charisma.

Also, he appears eager to pander if he thinks it will help his numbers, which if you get down to it probably all politicians are that way, but it's so obvious with Booker that he comes off like a kiss ***.

If it became trendy on the far left to hop around on one foot and yodel then Booker would immediately start doing it. He is not solid. He doesn't appear to have a moral or intellectual center from which to draw. He's doesn't come off to me as remotely genuine.

Set your policy opinions aside and imagine if Obama was up on the stage with all these people. None of the others would have a chance. Whatever else you thought about Obama, you have to admit he was a very good national politician, unlike the people we're seeing up on the stage now.

Might be the biggest dumb/uninformed, self-impressed IDIOT to ever be so considered, altho the Congressman, Swalwell, is hard to exceed in these categories.
