In the the press conference where the mayor first said 50 killed 53 wounded the police chief said Mateen had a pistol and "an AR-15 type weapon". To some in the media that became an AR-15. It reminds of the LA riots when I heard a "journalist" say live on the air, "We can now confirm some of the thing we've been reporting." Get the story out quick! We get the details right later.
