I sincerely think you are one of the dumbest people I have ever witnessed post* on a message board.

Should be posting son, posting.

Back to the point, in the last 32 years The Marshall University has posted 7 seasons when they failed to produce a winning record. The series between The Marshall University and wvu spanned 2006 to 2012. Marshall had losing seasons in 6 of those 7 years. All these are facts and indisputable. Through sheer luck, you caught The Marshall University at the perfect point in time for your historically mediocre program to reel off wins against The New Flagship. The timing also coincided with what is arguably the golden age of wvu football, although that is a pretty low bar. The 2006-2012 period saw wvu win 66 games, their best 7 year stretch ever. So The Marshall University's worst time against wvu's best.

Like I said, very fortuitous scheduling.

A Marshall fan talking about fortuitous scheduling is comical. Name your top 5 wins over that period.

I would say Doc's top 4 wins are:

The 2014 win over La Tech to win the CUSA Championship
The 2013 win over ECU who was 10-3 that year with blowout wins over a couple acc teams
The 2011 win over USM who was 12-2 and won CUSA that year
Tie for 4th would be the win at Louisville in 2011, a year they were BE champs, and the 2013 win over Maryland.

You were better off not answering the question.

Good try wvu82, but a few points, you have USM losing to Navy in 2011, not the case. You have the score right, but USM won.

Also, I noticed you failed to point out how wvu did against Maryland in 2013 or against Louisville at home in 2011. I'll help, you lost both games.

The bottom line is we play who we play in the conference we are in. There are 128 FBS teams, 5 of them, regardless of conference, have won at least 10 games each of the last three years and one of those is The Marshall University. No other G5 team has done it and many of them also play questionable schedules.

Oh, and thanks for posting our 2014 results. Always good to see how many teams we completely destroyed that year.

lol...189 SOS... why even play the game ? A 189 is pathetic... and sad...
and the tax payers of West Virginia are stunned by their investment...

as you pointed out above... there are 128 FBS schools...and 60 FCS schools had a harder schedule than the moooo in that 'great' season... that's definitely something to be proud of...

in 2014 ours was 50...

The OOC conference schedule Hamrick & Doc have scheduled over the past so many years has been pathetic. I doubt Boise is playing a schedule this Charmin soft.

Many of them don't.
At least you acknowledge a "questionable" schedule. Although I would say that "questionable" is a bit generous.

You average an SOS of around 139-140 in a division that has 128 teams. So, AT LEAST, 11-12 FCS schools play a tougher schedule than you do every year.

Your claims of being "good for a G5 program" are even disingenuous as you somehow manage to avoid even the best G5 teams, let alone the P5 schools.

Houston, Memphis, Temple, etc.

You could avoid P5 schools completely and still be under .500 if you actually played the best G5 schools.

You play the absolute worst of the worst ... and then brag about number of wins.

It is amusing ... I'll give you that.

It is only impressive to fans of a G5 program. To P5 schools it is just being one of the better teams that P5's beat the **** out of and give a payday. The facts back that up. P5 schools with a pulse beat the **** out of Marshall. Look at the results when your team (MU) plays the team that all your fans wish they were. (WVU)

So tell me, banker, how MU woulda done if we had played in the meantime or throughout the past.

You should remember that WVU is the 14th winningest program in cfb history and you are not, in fact, not even close.

Furthermore, the contests between us have been, for the most part, non-competitive.

But back to the point.......based on, let's say, 100 games, how woulda Marshall done against us?

I'll give you 5-8 wins.

We played in 1997, dumbass. You had Pennington and Moss. You went 10-3 that year.

And in your recent 10-win seasons, you still lost to Middle Tennessee and Ohio U. I guess you need to add them to the list of beneficiaries of the fortuitous scheduling. [laughing]

Country, I know reading is not a strong point for you, but the post clearly discusses the recent 7 game series. Yes, we played in 1997 and yes, we had Pennington and Moss. The part you guys always want to leave out is that it was our first game at the FBS level and we only had 60 scholarship players on that team, which showed in the 4th quarter. In reality that was a very young and inexperienced team, even Moss and Pennington were just sophomores and Pennington had redshirted the previous year meaning it was his first game action in 20 months. Those core guys, minus Moss, went 25-1 the next two seasons as they matured and got better along with adding depth with the higher scholarship limit at the FBS level. Again, you were very lucky to not play the Herd in 1998 and 1999. There's a reason wvu reneged on the deal to do a return trip to Huntington and changed the demand to all games in Morgantown.

Nehlen called the dogs off and what does it matter? 12-0 regardless of your petty excuses. Doc's current "success" is a direct result of playing schedules weaker than some FCS schools. That should tell you where MVU belongs.

As was wvu's success. A direct result of the conference realignment. Prior to that you were mediocre most years.

Now you're back in a tough conference and back to mediocrity.

Coincidence? Hardly.

So then you are admitting to the fact that WVu didn't get good until the conference weakened?

Remember, this is a question involving WVu. Try and stay focused just long enough to answer the question without first obsessing over Marshall.
