Way overdue. I think Huggs wanted to get out for a myriad of reasons - some being their RPI, some being their smart-azz nature, and some of it being if we're going to play in Charleston then lets play a 'name' opponent and keep the proceeds instead of splitting them 50/50.pulling the rug out from under the basketball series with Marshall?
Their fans and their administrators are too much to bear. I went on their forum last night to gloat and some DB said that MU should do everything they could to screw us and said we were wannabes in the world of athletics. My reply was our 5 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite *s and a Final 4 in the last 12 years. My post was promptly deleted. These people have such o high opinion of themselves and continue to denigrate our programs. All the while, I'm sure they'd trade places with us in a heartbeat.I honestly don't care either way, but bringing it to an end doesn't bother me one bit. That's because I myself think the reason it's ending is largely the result of their current HC, who clearly feels it more important to pander to the cement-heads on his side rather than doing what makes (and has always made) sense.
When he's back on the chow line in a couple years after being unceremoniously ****-canned, I suspect MU will be back at the bargaining table begging us to come back to them.

I stopped going to that game a few years ago and haven't even watched the last couple on TV, but I think it's pretty silly. I bet we start playing them again in 2017-2018 season.pulling the rug out from under the basketball series with Marshall?
Understood. My wife and her entire family are Marshall people. Honestly, my wife has become a WVU fan over the years but her family are just as deluded as your average Herd fan. Then, I have a bunch of Facebook friends from my home town who went to MU. These people are the worst. It's amazing the hate they have for WVU. The use of the USPAM is particularly funny from these morons given that MU borders two states. Not that you asked, but what MU fans think of themselves......and us.....is so beyond my personal consciousness that it's truly hard to describe. OTOH, I spend zero time on MU Message Boards, and have banned most of them (at least those who are immediately recognizable) from my screen; so I myself have no current clue how they feel about pretty much anything.
Let me first caveat that I attended both schools and I certainly root for WVU over Marshall and I grew up and currently live in the Huntington area. With that said, I was getting sick and tired of all the ******** that accompanied the football and basketball games. They accused us of chanting some stupid plane crash ******** during the football game in 2011, never happened. The basketball series is cancelled specifically because Huggins didn't appreciate the D'Antoni ******** after the 2014 game, and rightfully so. The WV legislature has no business getting involved in telling either program who to play or not play. Let each athletic department schedule the games that they believe is in their respective school's best interest, financially and otherwise.
Do you know Dr Marc Wild or Dr Al Vanatter? Both were in my dental school class.
I do know Dr. Wild. He's a great guy, I like him a lot. I do not know Dr. Vanatter.
Holly is her name, pretty sure. Yes, I knew her parents were on that team. I was at Greenbrier Military School and one of the post grad's brother, Norell I believe, was on the plane. The PG, went to Marshall to follow in his brothers footsteps.Yeah, I knew his son played at UT. He made a bunch of trips to Knoxville. You know his wife's parents were on the plane that crashed in '70, right? She had an older sister that ended up "raising" the family (with help of their grandparents). I think her older sister was 16 at the time and his wife was a little bit younger than that.

I'm glad that we finally initiated some welfare reform. It isn't WVU's job to prop up Marshall's welfare athletic department.pulling the rug out from under the basketball series with Marshall?
