Any big travel plans or special occasions on the horizon for any of you all?

For me, I'm taking the family to parents house (Maple Fork Road off US 19 to be exact) Saturday-Monday.
Then back to Buffalo for some skiing in Ellicottville, then ready for New Years.

I took off from the 23rd -25th. My family came for a brunch today. We will go to a party for my wife's extended family tomorrow night. Then my kids will open their presents Christmas morning, and that night we go for dinner to my wife's aunt's house.

Staying here in Atlanta. Parents coming down. Navy son is home for the holidays. And I've got a 14 lb boneless rib roast going on the big green egg for Christmas Day. Trying out a new recipe on that hunk of meat.

Great Lakes, IL awaiting Norfolk VA. He has his ship assignment. But his orders keep getting delayed. Was Jan 11th but now end of Feb. His ship will be full of Marines. I think maximum of like 70 Navy personnel to 600 marines.

Good luck to him. Those guys worked their *** off when out on deployment. I did a Med float on the JFK, and on the Lincoln. Which ship and what's his MOS?

Well I didn't name the actual ship, where they are going, deployment date or any of the other info. He has some schooling to finish up but I think most know Norfolk is a.navy base and that the navy is the taxi service for the marines. Lol

I watch what I post on here too. It's why I'm somewhat elusive about what I do and exactly where I live.

Nobody is supposed to even know we're here, but it's about the worst kept secret in the world. I went to a gym and they asked where I worked and I just mentioned that I work for an IT company and they immediately said "oh, we have a lot of members that work at _____ and _____". I'm sure my jaw dropped. One of those blanks is common knowledge, the other isn't supposed to be.

He's excited about his next assignment and it's the one he wanted. But he's getting frustrated at the continuos delays in the next phase. He just doesn't want to spend another winter in Chicago. But he'll be surrounded by a bunch of your marine buddies in the future. Lol

Hurry up and wait is the military way, tell him to get used to it.
That's good for him, I've watched Marines whip other Marines asses for fvcking with their Corpsman. Corpsman, SeaBees we respected and liked much more than the SEALS I was around and worked with. If he's hanging around us he's in good shape.

He said he's already learned the hurry up and wait. Meanwhile his friends already went to San diego and hawaii while he's in Chicago.
