You can tell that Adam McKay had a strong hand in the script. It's a pretty funny movie. I would have not imagined liking a film about Ant-Man. Might be the worst character in the Marvel bullpen.

In the comics Hank Pym is a wife beating douchebag.

I thought for sure the idea of an Ant sized superhero wouldn't be that good. But I liked the movie. Nice change-up for the Marvel universe.

I'm just done with the comic book movies. I haven't enjoyed one since V for Vendetta. The batman trilogy was ok but the rest are unwatchable and it seems like that's the only thing coming out. It seems like the nerds won.

Then you don't enjoy good movies. The top writers and directors are making movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, the Avengers ect. Adam McCay helped write the Ant Man script and it shows. It was a funny movie.

Quite the contrary. Clearly our definition of a good movie differs. I never enjoyed comic books and I wasn't friends with any of the kids who were when I was growing up.

Yeah, classics like the Wizard of Oz, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, ET and many other best picture nominees ruined cinema.
Derp.
The linked comments are referring to the abundance of superhero/comic book movies that have been released in the last decade or so. None of the examples you mentioned would be considered as such.

I didnt watch StarWars the original until I was 20 in prep for Episode 1. The original Star Wars being watched in the 90s was terrible. Mark Hamill's acting is what I base my opinion on. And then, the irony is he was THE main character, fast forward to the Episodes 1-3 and you have Haiden Christiansen.....HAHAHHAAHA. Please.

I didn't like the prequels.. But the first 3 were game changers in so many ways in cinema. There are plenty of bad super-hero movies. Fantastic 4, Punisher, Green Lantern....
But Marvel for the most part are making the best movies, not just 'super hero' movies, but some of the best written best looking movies these days.
The numbers don't lie. Your inability to enjoy a good movie aside.

What numbers? Sales? Is your position that the best movies are related to earnings?

Star Wars originals were a game changer in cinema. I'll give you that, regardless of whether they were good movies or not. Avatar was brilliant visually but it was basically Dances with Wolves in CGI. Gravity....she rode a fvcking fire extinguisher through space.

I get by your board name you are comic book and comic book movie fan. It's cool if that's what you are into. I personally don't care for them because I already said it just wasn't something I was into growing up. The best movie I have seen lately was Interstellar. To be honest though, I have been getting away from feature films and very much into the series on Netflix, HBO, and Showtime. The quality of acting, the actors participating, writing, and plot lines are just far better. Again, JMO, you don't have to agree.

I was never a big comic book guy. I did read some Punisher and I read The Watchmen, but that was about it. I judge the comic book movies by whether or not I'm entertained. I liked Punisher (the one with Thomas Jane as the Punisher), and I was entertained. I thought the more recent Batman movies were good. I did stop watching the 73 Spiderman movies somewhere around 2 - they bored me.

I'm not sure that I'm a movie purist. I don't always judge a movie solely by the acting - Gran Torino for example - as long as I like the story and feel like they managed to tell the story well.

I'll say it. I think the new Vacation movie looks good.

Got to agree.

Considering that the original Vacation Mom (Beverly D'Angelo) showed her tits in that movie, it's only expected that the new Mom (Christina Applegate) will as well.

She had a double mastectomy. I mean I would still look, but....

I don't remember Bev showing them off in that movie. Am I losing my mind?

You're losing your mind. Shower scene. Her rack was pretty good back in the day.
Guess I need to go back and watch it on something other than TBS. She did a skinemax back in the 90s that was pretty hot. Glazed the knuckles more than once to that gem.
