You should listen to his presser from 4/17. He speaks directly to the wins and losses as the only measurable or “master” he needs to serve. He understands his mission and speaks honestly about it. It’s not flowery words that get people excited, it’s how he handles the business because we trust in his process to make the team better. The fact that he acts with integrity and humility and is an awesome advocate for Nebraska are all bonuses.

Unfortunately there is a nonzero number of posters who think we should have been top 10 in year 1 and 2 after being spending the previous 8 years as a laughing stock in college football … because we are Nebraska. To give some idea of how far we have fallen the former running back at Wisconsin who lives rent free in my head after they lost to us … basically tweeted “Nebraska???
Now … will we be 5 or 6 wins with no forward progress this year? Maybe - if so I will shut my yapper and eat some Minny pie. But I think I can get behind a coach who has a plan, who has been putting the right pieces together to execute the plan and who I think will put a product on the field we can be excited about this year. Literally every group will be better this year with the exception of Dline (I don’t think that is automatic given either).
It's not a disqualifier. There's fewer people like this especially in this sport which means lesser percentage chance for it to happen.

What's interesting is brainlets like @headcard will do all these mental gymnastics as on how terrible PJ Fleck and Bert Bielema are, particularly in relation to Matt Rhule who went 11-3 in 2019 if you didn't know, then simultaneously believe our schedule is a murderous row.
We could go 11-1 and make the final 4 teams of the playoff and Kong would ***** about what point in the game Rhule took a timeout. We could go 17-0 and bring home the natty and Kong would ***** it took too long or find something else to pick at Rhule over. There will be no end.
In fairness Kong mentioned earlier what it would take to have confidence in the program/coach in year 3. Neither scenario was listed above.

yeah, i love to know because just as a standalone statement it doesn't make a lot of sense, i.e. can't compete for certain b12 recruits, yet b10 is much better than b12? love to know the context because it's otherwise odd.

He was stating that currently and going forward the B1G and the SEC are an overall better product with better competition. The same thing literally anyone who watches college football would say. Due to the money, resources and the talent those things afford the elite conferences and the top tier of those two conferences will be significantly better than than the top tier of the Big12.
I said it at the time. I don’t think Rhule fully understood or appreciated the importance of his job as head football coach at NU. He was coasting along with his buddies. Not doing a damn thing to help his kid WR coach, not doing a damn thing to address special teams. The disturbing thing is he didn’t foresee the need to do something himself. It took a fan uprising and a talking from the AD for him to understand that what he was doing wasn’t good enough.
Yes, we’ve become a place to get a good contract because of unwavering support.

true.. it took the AD to twist his arm into action mid season. I do not for a minute believe Rhule would have made that move on his own.
