With the new portal grabs, this doesn’t surprise me. And I don’t really blame him… We didn’t utilize him a ton. Maybe this is just an attempt to increase his NIL, but if he leaves, we’ve got some good guys coming in.

Yeah I like Lloyd but I'm not sure how he was gonna be used. For a smaller guy he isn't as shifty as you would like. He is fast as hell but kinda straight line. I'll be honest I was am still hoping like hell we get Demetrius Bell back healthy. I think that dude is very similar to Jacoby. But runs better routes. I think people truly forgot how people talked about him and how he looked before the injury.

I am fan of his, even though he couldn’t seem to find a consistent role here.

Probably a bigger blow to the Track Team to be honest.

Well you expect to have to play Mills and Mozee some if you want to keep them. No reps for Lloyd

I think DH is going to take advantage of the TE talent, so we will see more 12 personnel with only 2 WRs. Lloyd was about to get buried on the depth chart.

Lloyd is a good player, but he’s basically the same type of player as Barney and Barney is better.

See I really don't see it that way. Other than their size I don't really see the similarities. I think Barney is used and is much more effective side to side, is more shifty, and better hands than Lloyd. When I see Lloyd it's more as a down the field guy. The fact that he's smaller means he kinda has to really run by a guy or DR has to be super accurate. Something he hasn't really been with the deep ball.

In fact as crazy as it sounds I think skill set wise (or at least how we used him) Lloyd has been more similar to Neyor than he has Barney.

Either way I wish him luck. I hate to see him leave but we will lose some guys we want to keep. Hopefully these new guys come in ready to contribute and Bell comes back healthy.

Disappointing, but I'm not shocked. I kinda thought that Barney slid into the role he was envisioned for, and Barney seems a bit more elusive.

Hopefully with the class, both portal and HS, we have coming in it won't be a huge loss.

Rhule wants to turn track athletes like Lloyd into football players. But that requires coaching and development, and we had a kid coaching WRs.

Thing about all these dudes…where the hell they gonna go?!

Anecdote…kids playing high school football in Nebraska…sure there are top level dudes that can play somewhere else and nearly anywhere else , but at the same time the load of JV type dudes threatening that they are gonna leave each year is getting incredible, and LAUGHABLE.

Oh, you like to jog around all week and then also not dominate against kids who can’t walk and chew gum on Saturdays? Man, we’ll miss you.

It’s an epidemic.

He must have had an NIL offer because this makes no sense otherwise. McMorris and Hall still haven’t landed anywhere yet
I am surprised but that just means more reps for Mozee and Mills

I will be interested to see where he lands. You would think he will want a school with a big time track program, but I can’t see the Floridas, LSUs, and Arkansas having room for him.

Too bad

World class speed doesn’t grow on trees

It's hard to run a 10.3 100m when there is a guy standing across from you that can touch you.

Had high hopes for Lloyd though. He came into this year averaging almost 40 yards a catch with 5 TDs. Hopefully they can lure him back.

Seems like 90% of our high school WR commits don't pan out. Especially local kids. Might as well just get portal WRs. No more Bellevue West kids either.

He had good enough marks to score points at the B1G conference meets. I haven’t checked but I would think that in the jumps the SEC is a whole other kettle of fish.

This is one of those headscratchers because although his time here hasn't exactly gone smoothly, we likely offer his best chance going forward. It doesn't make a ton of sense but it inevitably happens that college kids aren't always the best at seeing the bigger picture. Wish him the best but doubt he gets a better offer in the portal.

Don’t forget “turn left”.
No kidding!

I totally get that there is some coaching on form, I get that, but come on.

It is not like you are a taking a 9th grader that runs a 19 second 100...and making them a 10.3 guy as a senior.

This kid led the nation in 50+ yard TD catches in 2023

Most programs find ways to get kids like him the ball, much less get them on the field

we of course managed just one single 50+ yard TD pass this season - game 1 against UTEP

Not sure about the Lloyd/Neyor comparison but like you said, to get to 105 we’re gonna lose a few good players. Won’t be surprised if Lloyd does well wherever he lands.

What do you mean get to 105? We get 20 extra scholarships this year. Just ax all the walk-ons. That gets us right around 85. Add back the scholarship worthy walk-ons. Portal additions/subtractions look like a wash. If anything we need some quality portal additions or we will be back to Pelini style of just lazily giving walk-ons scholarships because they are open.

This is one I would definitely have kept if possible.

Yeah, Lloyd was our best deep threat. Stretches the defense. He’s not easily replaceable.

Well now you have probably summoned Averitas to educate us on the greatest Track team in the Northern Hemisphere (according to a survey from a 1956 edition of the Manhatten Mercury)

Totally would’ve kept Lloyd. But you can’t expect every player leaves will be a non-contributor. Every team is gonna lose a few they’d rather keep under the new rules.
