Hope Jaylen Lloyd can show something and defensive depth rises to the challenge to ease concerns of how critical our portal season will be- although always critical.

6’5” 230 slot WR? The point of a slot WR is to create route running mismatch against possible LBs or S. Move the kid outside or to TE.

It sounds like he will be moving to TE next year. But a lot of teams use their TE’s in the slot, they can be matchup nightmares. In the NFL guys like Kelce and Bowers are in the slot almost exclusively.

Them I get. Because they are killer route runners and elite TEs. They also block and line up next to the T.

I haven’t seen Nelson utilized well in the slot. I just don’t get it.

Our D-Line went from very deep and talented to a major major concern next year. Parrot and Goldma in next years two deep? Ok.

The number of Fr. or RFr. on the two deep surprised me, especially on the O-line. We will be a young team next year.

Next year’s 2deep will look something like this:
Cam L, Jeudy, RVP
Davis, MS State transfer, Mizzou transfer
Possibly the Terry kid plus the ETSU transfer for rotational depth.

let’s hope the transfers are good then. Lot riding on the portal there. I wouldn’t pencil George ,ETSU transfer, in the two deep just yet too. He’s coming in with a lot to learn. But he’s the only one who played football this last year out of the 3. Moore hasn’t played football in almost 3 years and not really highly recruited. D-Line is the biggest concern next year. Sorry it just is.

Should be a great starting 3 but gotta have depth on the D-Line.

Bowl games are exhibition games these days. I'm sorry if that offends anyone here but it's true. I want Dana teaching his offense to Dylan and co. I don't care about the game vs BC.

If they were exhibition games it wouldn’t count on your record as a win or a loss..

wouldn't mortgage the farm but getting these kids to learn to win is important

He means starting

I agree I’m excited to see much more of Lloyd who somewhat inexplicably disappeared from the gameplan all season
A lot had to do with size and playing B1G teams. Lloyd and Barney both sort of undersized WR.

Good to see 6 frosh on the 2 deep at line.

Still, we need to hit the portal hard for OT, DT, and CB still… if not this window, the spring window. Also, sign 30 guys next class. Get at least 6 DL, 3 LB, and 3 CB.

Is it fair to compare college players to All-pro and likely hall of fame talents?

But it didn't prevent Barney from getting any reps is what he's saying.

I know the two are similar in size but I think they are completely different players. Barney is quicker, more shifty and gets in and out of his breaks faster. I think Lloyd is more straight line fast. He doesn't have the lateral quicks or explosion that Barney does. He's more of a deep ball guy. Problem is his size. Hes not winning many jump balls and for whatever reason Raiola throws a lot of 50/50 balls that SHOULD be easy TD throws when our guy is behind the DB. Not a good idea when your guy isnt coming down with it half the time. I feel like he either aims it or is trying to make a perfect throw every time instead of just putting it on the guy when he has a couple steps. Anyways it's not a good recipe for a smaller WR. Hopefully Dylan corrects that and is more trusting his guys and just throws the ball out there.

Hopefully DH can design some stuff for these guys. With Barney, Lloyd, Mozee, kid from Florida, Clark, Smith, Nelson, transfer from Cal and one more portal guy at least. We have enough bodies and size to get some things done.

I think you missed my point you don’t want 2/3s of your WRs targets undersized. One is ok. Two is too much. Don’t care what kind of route runners they are. They are both undersized. It’s been said many times by many coaches about size in the BIG @ WR. Little Guys get beat up in the B1G.

But yes, Lloyds always needed help in route running. Hence why he wasn’t heavily recruited. His HS game was out run the coverage and QB chuck it up to you. Then if course he never had a real WR coach in Lincoln to teach him. I think he will be fine under the new coach.
