What the F is he waiting for exactly?

Pretty sure someone on staff could coach specials for the bowl. Maybe promote Maher for the bowl game.

Waiting for the offseason to give him an extension. Why would he fire his buddy?

He should have been fired a few months ago and definitely should have been fired after the Iowa game.

If Rhule cares in any way about winning games, Foley has to go…. there is no option there.
Foley stays, and we are guaranteed to lose games strictly based on that decision.

I won’t take away from Buschini having some stud moments (despite inconsistencies), or Hohl stepping up big later in the season, but ST goes beyond those “highlights”… and the unit was by far in the category of “let’s lose games” way way way too often.

Not developing a long snapper??? Cmon!!! Literally turned 2-3 games into losses.
Coverage units awful!! 4 blocked kicks in 2 games and other near misses?
Nothing going in return yardage, and a critical blunder causing a turnover inside the 8 yd line.

Time to pass the reigns.

There's no rush on that spot one way or another. There will be guys available in January who aren't now.

He is a former oline coach and special teams coordinator. But he couldn't field a competent long snapper. Baffling.

We had two guys who performed well in fall camp. You don't know for sure until they have to do it in from of 90,000 people with the game on the line. :( I think it's more about handling the pressure than the coaching...

I get it Dingle, but sometimes it's not about the rush, it's the perception. Rhule is doing himself no favors.
meh. I'll wait for the right guy for that spot. We're recruiting a transfer long snapper. Not sure about the kickers. I like Hohl and have no idea about the punters.

It was just said that what's probably happening is they are letting Foley's contract expire as it does at the end of the year and something will happen after the bowl game.

I can't give him credit for the other moves until Foley is gone, it should have happened by game 5.

2 year. He and the RB coach's contracts expire Dec 31, 2024
Wouldn't it be just too funny if we ended up getting a former hated rival here coaching the RBs in one Eric Bienemy. He was let go from UCLA as OC and he has the Chiefs connection! Probably never happen, but would be interesting. He coached the RBs at Kansas City. Looks like we're getting strong ties with KC now as Merritt's dad is on the staff as well as Bradden and Dylan's connection with Mahomes. As crazy as everything has been around here lately, it wouldn't surprise me one bit!

He is not fired yet because he is not going to get fired. Now he won’t be coaching special teams he will be assigned to an off field position somewhere.

isn't that part of the coaching?

I don't think he's getting fired. And it pains me to say that.

I’m worried this may be true. If you’re gonna fire an assistant this is the time to do it. It’s on you (Rhule) if special teams costs us the bowl game. I suppose more coaches will be available/done coaching after the bowl game(s). But I would still fire him now and have someone else coach them in the interim if the new coach isn’t available till after the post season.

It's pretty clear to me he's not going anywhere. Not a great look.
