Not really

The press has marching orders from the athletic dept to keep things hush until/unless a lid is blown off

Posters here say they were silenced during the pelini era

Everybody here laughs at players from every team who come forward with accusations of anything because it’s assumed to be a money grab

Would seem right in line with the cultural norms surrounding college football to an objective outsider looking in

Iowa had no problem fielding a football team following their transgressions.

Rhule’s hero Joe Pa ran a sex trafficking ring disguised as a college football program for 30 years.

Rhule happily participated in it and continues to wax poetic about it to this day.
I guess my point is something like this would have too much potential for the lid to get blown off. This isn’t behind closed doors, allegedly. It’s in front of numerous teammates. They all remained silent? Looked the other way while this was happening?

And then EJ decided that even though this happened, he will stay at Nebraska? I just find it all hard to believe…

Yes. Not the first time.

There are countless examples of this exact behavior taking place with subordinates accepted into powerful organizations.

I’d say you can’t be this naive, but I know that to be false

Willful ignorance is a powerful enabler

Rhule’s position coach is in jail for life for crimes against humanity committed at the football facilities

Nobody said a word for decades

People think players would jeopardize their scholarships/futures because a drunk yelled at one of them?

LMAO
Culture in America is far different than that era. More than ever before people get outed for their bad behavior. Cancel culture is still king.

Yes, I think players who banded together would have the ability to oust drunken coaches who spew hatred at their teammates.

Why is this so hard for you to believe?

Tell me:

Do apples typically fall far from their trees?

That’s the guy Rhule learned from. His hero. Now we’re to believe all’s on the up and up?

Okay.

You're not saying Rhule would countenance pedophilia? Either then or now?

Matt Rhule did not happily participate in a sex trafficking ring and does not wax poetic about it. He is allowed to have taken something from his time playing football in a college football program. Every person that played for Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky is not guilty by association.

This is exactly the kind of reception the players could expect had they come forward with something - anything

Thanks for the demonstration and for answering your own willfully ignorant question.

I suppose it's possible to reverse pivot as well as those spinning into a positive EJ's leaving in the first place.
Here we go with your ability to frame things in a way that fits your fantasy. No one spun EJ's leaving as a positive. Lots of us said he is replaceable. That's not the same as it being a positive. Go link one person saying him leaving was a good thing. I'll wait.

He played for Sandusky

Worships at the altar of Joe Pa

Not at all shy about it
But to clear you're not saying Rhule would ignore pedophilia, then or now? I know you have a beef with Rhule and you get points for McGuire and Foley, but that's not the same as saying he would look the other way if children were being molested.

Given the timeline there’s a non-zero chance he looked the other way while his own teammates were being taken advantage of by his position coach.

He’s spent a lot of time with a serial sex predator. A lot of time.

His friend - a clear incapable moron - doing this behind closed doors isn’t even close to the crimes against offense we all witnessed for 21 fall Saturdays on Rhule’s watch.

And if we lost Hutmacher and Robinson after 2 years and/ or if both were losing playing time to younger players I would definitely say the same thing. Princewell had off the field issues didn’t play near the snaps as he did as a freshman and by the end of the year McGahee was taking snaps away. Williams is/was a light DL that can’t seal the edge and is weak against the run. Emmett Johnson was/is a lightly recruited RB that showed well against in 3 games with a new OC. Sounds like he has issues with the former OC. Now instead of sticking around and battling for continued playing time he took his ball and went home. Bye!!!!

Again I say if those are 3 of the best 50 players on the team, then we have bigger talent issues than believed and it needs to be addressed by bringing in better talent, not by keeping 3rd string talent because they might get better in 2 more years.

I’ll go out on a limb and say if Williams goes to Florida State, he will have significantly less snaps than he did at Nebraska, for a two and 10 team. If Johnson stays in the portal, he will be a third string running back at any P4 team. Princewell may indeed play somewhere else, but again was losing snaps to a true freshman. I will take the true freshman

Everything I say is backed by proof. You have a post saying he wasn't even a top 50 player on the team and these posts had several likes meaning multiple people agreed with him.

My frame of reference is the truth, not the positive spin cycle that is this board with every single topic that comes up.

You’re saying Rhule - a guy who’s had to dismiss coaches just prior to 100% of his seasons here due to sexual or alcohol-related transgressions - is incapable of employing a drunk who yells at his players?

Lol.

I guess I'm having a hard time following you. I thought you were saying he had knowledge of a sex trafficking ring and did nothing about it. I agree Satt is a terrible coach and should already be unemployed. I didn't know I had to think Matt Rhule excuses pedophiles in order to make that point.

Playing for Joe Pa was Rhule’s dream come true

So you think he’d have come forward if he’d seen anything out of the ordinary? Or would he have joined the hundreds who stayed silent?

@timnsun says players would have come forward if a coach yelled at a player

I say Rhule himself didn’t come forward when much worse took place in the very shower facility he used after practice every single day

Powerful organizations produce powerful blind allegiances that often last long after lids have been blown off of scandals

Nobody remembers the kids. Everybody stays true to their school (or organization du jour)

To act like this isn’t 100% true is the dictionary definition of willfull ignorance

You are saying some absolutely insane things tonight. Like completely unhinged.

You think everyone who every played at PSU knew about what Sandusky was doing and stayed silent? That they are all, decades of players, complicit in that? You also think Sandusky was abusing players, like grown *** college football players, as other players knew and stayed silent?

That is crazy town.

I'd think getting top transfers and the staff complete while preparing for the bowl, would be the goal at this juncture of time..

unless we have to wait till the end of the season for the staff to be complete

Our coach wasn’t just any old walk-on

His parents knew Jerry Sandusky. Denny Rhule (Matt’s father) worked for the now-disgraced Second Mile organization for a year.

The very org that funneled kids to the position coach for decades

Yes, I think many, many players stayed silent. As they were wont to do when approached with the alternative (being laughed at, never playing football again, ect.)

So you think the players at Penn State knew and did nothing? You think Sandusky abused players, as other players knew and did nothing? You think Matt Rhule is complicit in the child abuse at PSU?

Yep, I read that article too. I think you might have edited for effect

His parents knew Jerry Sandusky. Denny worked for the now-disgraced Second Mile organization for a year.

Like a lot of folks, they never realized the degree of Sandusky's evil.

"It was a complete shock to me and everybody in State College," Denny said.

Perhaps no coach in the country, then, better knows how football can become too big to fail -- until it does.

"It's just like my alma mater," Matt Rhule said. "You look at what's happened that maybe went wrong. You learn from it, you identify it, but you move on. You always have an eye to the future but you always honor the past."
