I'm shocked to learn someone thinks other schools have contacted Raiola.

That's like saying "Raiola likely to start at QB next season"

Why wouldn’t he consider the portal? This is pro football and he’s a free agent. It’s not like we wouldn’t take him back.

There are Yankee fans who think Soto was a terrible jerk to take the Mets three quarters of a billion dollars, too. Like all of them wouldn’t do the same thing if they had the chance.

We will only be successful in this environment if we learn that the “developmental” rules we played by are dead. If Raiola leaves we need to make ASU’s qb an offer he won’t refuse. He already left MSU last year for more money at ASU so why wouldn’t he listen?

Yes. That development will need to be reserved for 8-10 of those 3* OL/DL kids that have potential to be starters or backups in a year or so and need time to get bigger and stronger. The time to win is becoming shorter and shorter because the gap continues to get wider and wider.

I don't know why any of this surprises anyone. This is college football now. And, Nebraska sucks at the moment. Until that changes, kids like DR will bolt.

This is why MR is in a bind. He has a lot of work to do. And, a lot of influences not in his favor. The odds are against him.

Didn't the Yankees offer him basically the same money? Honesty I didn't read in detail about it. I'm way more into the types of players that the Royals can get for a Quik Trip gift card and a bucket of balls.

If he's basically planning on coming back, which I think he is, the reason he wouldn't just jump into the portal for ***** and giggles is because it would be extremely damaging to the program. If he's thinking about the portal there's no reason to go public with it. He can find out all he needs to know through agents and back channels. He knows if he puts himself into the portal it will have far-reaching consequences for Nebraska. There would be a hell of lot less to come back to if he changed his mind.

I thought he was low risk to transfer this year too. But who knows? Our program is a dumpster fire right now and I am sure he is being offered tons of money to go elsewhere
One thing about it, Rhule just absolutely can't make a hiring mistake with the DC and the DL coach.

In a way, Rhule should be doing the same things.. he should be trying to recruit above him.

Let me ask a question in a different way.. how many Freshman QB's start off 6-6 and go on to great things?

Oh I know DR has talent, and he's going to be a much better QB in year 2.. but I think you can find someone better out there if you tried hard enough.

If we aren't trying to get the top kids at each position, then that's kind of a problem isn't it?

IF Dylan is like his dad he may be the type of kid who's just gonna stick it out, even when his team isn't a contender for a long time. Dominic stayed with the Lions forever and they sucked, I think?

Down the road, the GM's have to like guys who are gonna stay loyal and not jump at the first sign of more money.

That's irrelevant. It's about the potential for the kids that Dylan may be able to bring here.

True, but even in pro sports, at some point a franchise has to have a core of players who anchor themselves to the team, help bring in free agents, maybe even restructure their contract to create some salary cap relief. Seems if Dylan (or anyone else in his position) wants to win next year, he and a few others have to say that they will be here no matter what so that their team is attractive to other transfers.

If he wants to leave to go "someplace better" why come here in the first place? Why not just go to OSU and win? There's no reason for him to put himself through year 1 at Nebraska and then not come back for year 2 and possibly 3.

But to be fair, DR has not only been hamstrung by his underperformed OC, but it's been implied that said OC also had a bias against our best rb

oh I get it.. how Satterfield still has a job is beyond me.. As for DR, his Daddy won a Natty, so the kid probably wants to win one too.. I think that's a completely legit rationalization.. if that is what is going on. You all remember what it was like to be a kid that age, you want to show up your dad, not only accomplish what your dad did, but also do it better. They might let it play out another year, but there is zero chance the kid stays here a 3rd year if Matt doesn't get it going.

And no way he wins a national championship at Nebraska. None. Zero.

Dominic wasn't on the 1997 national title team.
