Satterfield probably showed up to practice drunk and told him he hated him.

With DK gone, it makes some sense plus the field time and depth for 2025. Hate seeing talent leave but 105 and desire to play, it’s going to keep happening

We need these Nebraska guys to stay!!! Show that they should go all N! I totally get it that that is a tough ask, but home needs you...

Getting to 105 keeps getting easier. Pound sand if you don't want to be at Nebraska. We won't miss your winning ways.

Sadly, the old days of playing for the pride of your home State with a bunch of other Nebraska boys seeking to do the same are over. Every team in America is now essentially a semi-pro group of free agents angling for more money. The entire vibe of college football has changed. You can lament that fact but it is the reality.

My gut therefore tells me that it is also more business like and less fun. And there is a **** load of work and effort involved in being on a P4 team. So if it is not that much fun and it is all business like, hard to tell a 20 year old kid to keep showing up at 7:30 AM and keep lifting those weights just to ride pine for two or more years. State pride only goes so far. And not one of these kids remembers the glory years. They remember mostly a team that loses. So hard to feel pride in that.

There was a time when a Nebraska kid would stay on the team even if buried on the depth chart just so they could say to the folks in their small town “I play for the Huskers”. They would display in their houses pictures with Tom Osborne and their son. Everyone in town was proud too that one of their own was on the team.

Not anymore. NIL. Transfer portal. 105 roster limit. Bye bye yesterday.

I still feel that way. I won't shed any tears for Hall though. Some of those Omaha Metro kids do not have an in-state mentality. Heck, most of the good basketball talent won't even consider Nebraska.

Had high hopes for this one.

Turns out that you can take the kid out of Bellevue West, but you cannot take the Bellevue West out of the kid.
Hall was one of those guys who got his 4 star rating early in his HS career based on early impressions and measurables. Then he did just enough to keep it, but as recruitment got serious he wasn't getting the attention that the true 4 star receivers get. I feel like Nebraska was like his fall back plan.

Then in his one year here, my impression is that there are other redshirt WRs who they liked more than him. Anyone disagree?

The question is, do any of these Nebraska kids work out for Nebraska.
IMO, these players will always be recruited over by the staff when there is an opportunity to bring a kid in who’s essentially playing year round in a warm weather state with 7 on 7 teams.

I need to add this to my signature line -

There are 2 types of players, ones that can help you win and ones that can’t help you win……long pause ………yet

I’d argue that none of the good basketball talent considers the Huskers. As you know Creighton gets a few, almost everyone else goes out of state. Heck even UN Omaha has landed good in state talent.

Jmo just like the football team the basketball coaches have bypassed Nebraska kids for years and for different reasons, I think Fred is trying to change that but it’s difficult with uno and creighton just like coach Rhule I give him credit for changing the instate recruiting culture but it doesn’t help when two top players don’t stay but you have to keep trying, now with roster limitations maybe all the recruits weather Nebraska or Florida will take it more seriously now a coach can go to the portal and replace them pretty easily

I’m not saying Hall was nudged to move on because I have zero inside knowledge of his situation.

However… I do think this is going to become a lot more common for freshmen to get a 1-2 year try out.

They now have a shorter window to flash your potential and see if you are worth investing a scholarship in.

If you aren’t showing you can be a player by then, that scholarship number is better used on a transfer who can.

The days of signing 25+ high schoolers, redshirting 20, and hoping they start by their Jr year are over. It is terrible for the kids’ development and for the sport, but under the current rules that’s probably the smartest way to do it.

One thing I heard on husker online was to eliminate red shirts altogether and go with 5 years of eligibility for all athletes.

Freshmen will need to go to FCS or lower tier FBS programs. I don’t think you’ll see many freshmen going to the Big Ten or SEC. 5 per team? Rest of recruiting will be transfers

I’ve heard that too. But I’m not sure what that accomplishes. The four game RS isn’t what is causing all the problems.

Right now the kids that “need” a redshirt year take one. The kids that play their first year are likely to be doing something else after four years, unless they get injured. And then the red shirt is available. Making it five to play five is essentially the NCAA saying we’re not gonna make any decisions about participation eligibility anymore.

I would redshirt players and not play them at all until sophomore year. That way there's no tape for them to give to teams if they hit the portal. Any player who went in would have his locker emptied immediately.

I'm a monster though so don't listen to me.

Hall seems like he will need to find a school where he can develop. I think he was bypassed by other young guys on the current squad, and it was only going to get worse when the 2025 WR recruits join. Hopefully Hall finds a good landing spot. It may not be as easy as he thinks.

I saw him play several times. I was shocked he was a 4 star. A talented in- state prospect but I think Neb will be ok. My most disappointing portal losses are Emmit Johnson and Princewell. I think we will be just fine without Hall, Coleman or the others.
