Has not thrown a touchdown pass since September 28th @ Purdue. Now relax, I am not putting all the blame on him as our OC is challenged, but he has missed some key throws in big moments. Missing two TD passes against Ohio St, played really bad vs Indiana and Rutgers. The overthrow in the Illinois game late as well. In his last 3 games he is 60% 0 TD, 5 INT. He's a true freshman that I am glad is on our roster, but our staff has to put him in more manageable situations aka run the ball more and PA passes. If he has struggles in the 1H Saturday I would put HH in more to see what he can muster (and that is not because I think he is the better option.)

His footwork and decision making have been criticized. Does Glenn Thomas deserve some blame here?

He's a freshman. Did we really think there would be zero growing pains and that he'd be Dan Marino day 1? Every single thought I have about him is centered around "I hope he stays, he's the best hope we've had in years."

Same here, I hope he doesn’t get too disappointed and turned off that he leaves.

if you blame any of the coaches you're an Iowa fan.

especially if you blame one of Rhule's Baylor/Temple buddies who helped him only lose to good teams.

Put him on a team with a good OL he looks a whole lot different. We can't protect him or run the ball.

Against Rutgers he looked bad. The competition since then has been markedly higher as well, not to mention some unannounced injuries that seem to be bothering him. Noticeable near the end of the Ohio state game when he took a minor shot and was in a lot of pain around right arm.

Maybe he needs to sit to get better, but I don’t think he sits otherwise…

something about DR/the staff I haven't seen discussed here much is the decision to leave him in for nearly the entirety of the indiana debacle.

I actually liked the move. it's important for a young leader to go through stuff like that in the spotlight and not be coddled.

I really didn't like it at the time because I didn't see anything being gained from it. It looked like the team quit honestly. The coach should have gathered the offense and said, "Hey, we're not gonna win this game. So we're gonna run the ball and I want to see some grit or else." Instead they dropped him back continually, got him beat up, and made him look like garbage.

rubbed his nose in it. taking him out would've been easy.

if you're a leader, you never want to be in that spot ever again.

an iron will is forged in the fires of failure and hardened in the work that follows.

great players hate losing 1,000,000x more than they love winning.

I swore I wasn't going to post, I am weak.

I am confused about the comments. We need to throw more deep which takes more time but we already can't protect the QB? He should run more, which is not his skill set and risk injury but go ahead and do it more? We throw too many short passes to the outside because the D is blitzing but we need to quit that so we can get our QB hurt on more long throws. How many potential TD's have been missed completely or very close and all of the sudden, things are much different.

What am I missing?

I would like fewer perimeter passes and more quick slants and digs. Aimed at 5 yards gains minimum instead of catching the ball 3-5 yards behind the LOS.

I am confused about this comment. None of these things you posted have been said in this thread at all.

he should change his name to RhetoricalHusker

all he does is ask idiotic, answerless questions to nobody in particular

Not only that, he says stuff, and then frequently never comes back to it.

Truly rhetorical.

His throwing accuracy seems off.

Now that he has 8 games of experience and we have four winnable games coming up, I think we will see better days.

All true freshman fade as the season goes on...and I don't think Dylan is physically built to withstand the grind of a big 10 season, yet. The travel itself is a beast when you aren't used to it, as is the mental side of game preparation week after week, and I assume he is studying for school at some point. He is probably banged up and learning to fail for the first time and is hesitant for the first time. This is precisely why you don't play true freshman at QB in a major power conference, especially one with a defensive focus. A year to redshirt, get some muscle, get the offense down so his weekly adjustments are easier and giving him a chance to take some hits on scout team and learn the team would be beneficial. This is the downside of a freshman being the most important person on the team, they dictate what they want because everyone is afraid to sit them down and do what is best for them...Dylan has to decide what is best for him and has to be right as a teenager. Can you imagine facing that as a teenager? This is a crazy time, Eric Crouch was proud in his freshman year just to be allowed to have a locker with the letterman. One of only two freshman allowed to even be in the same locker room as the big boys.

This 100%! It’s been a decade or more since we’ve had just a decent O-line. When they can’t even get a snap count correct do we really think they can actually block somebody?

Every year it seems we are 2-3 years away from have just a decent O-line. This is where NIL needs to invest and at least one Dude is coming!
