Not sure this is really different than Ceyair, but I’d stay away from players quitting mid season if possible imo.
Obviously I don't know what is going on here for sure but it looks & smells like quitting in order to prepare for the draft. Quitting to prepare for the draft is common leading up to bowl games. But now at least a few kids a year are taking it a step further. Usually it involves a kid who chooses quitting over playing hurt & at less than 100%. That way they can recover and get in a lot of training ahead of the NFL draft combine. Plus they avoid putting out bad tape. I can't think of too many examples off the top of my head- the TE Musgrave from Oregon did it a couple years ago.
Other kids do the "quiet quitting" thing where they are out with seemingly minor injuries that they could play through, but they sit out games in order to avoid putting out "bad" tape.
He wants to quit, but he doesn’t want to say that he’s quitting, so he’s going to fade away and quietly be forgotten. Then he will have an elaborate story to tell later on. That’s my only conclusion. Because if you loved it, you would be working with the best doctors for free to get back to playing as soon as possible. No shame in quitting if his body is breaking down and he can’t do anymore. It’s not easy to come to that conclusion.
42 secomds on Google shows he has battled a lot of injuries..he isn't an NFL prospect on any level it appears, and his NIL value is almost nonnexistent. Maybe he's contemplating if he should be playing ball at all anymore. Doesn't feel like a greedy move to me. We'll see.
Probably, dude is on a crap team with a crap coach and most players seem to not like Luke.
Plenty of athletes take the medical route and retire. He would get all the benefits of a normal student athlete. Not sure about NIL. Article said he contemplated entering the draft. So he either thinks he's some long shot NFL prospect or is trying to save his eligibility for a transfer.
...I doubt anyone is telling him he is going to get drafted, and if that was his goal, to get ready for the draft, I cannot think of a dumber way to do it than quit on your team as a player with zero draft prospects and injury history...as far as NIL..I sure hope he isn't chasing some $2,500 one day appearance at Larry's Used car's and U-Haul rental in some other city, next season, as a 6th year player who maybe outta think about life after ball at this point
You are correct. All conferences have to unite and say "NO" to transferring players that quit on their team mid season. Enough of this ******** from these kids.

He has a window to make it work and it is currently closing. Alvarez followed the Devaney approach and built a very successful brand of football in Madison. Fans up there are not gonna buy some type of pass first ******** that loses games.
He'll probably be back with another team next year.

At this point, we should call it like it is... college athletics is now semi-pro.
I am not sure they really have a huge fan base. Not like "real" fans, more like "Hey, this is something to do" fans.
His last 3 seasons...Torn ACL in 2021, broken arm in 2022, and broken leg 23

In today’s CFB you get one free year as a coach, your 1st season. After that, if fans media and players don’t see improvement in your second season you become a target. Fans and media will tear you down and recruits/transfers will start looking elsewhere. If you get worse in your 2nd year as a P4 coach, you’re probably toast.
Fickle was ran out of Ohio state. If he couldn’t cut it with high level talent in the big 10, why did everyone think he would be even good at Wisconsin with far less talent available to him? We may not beat Wisconsin this year but I feel like we are two programs heading in different directions. We just have a long climb up while they’re tumbling slow
Fickle made a HUGE mistake not retaining Jim Leonard as DC/Associate HC, IMO. Maybe he tried, don’t remember, but their AD oozes “Steve Pederson” type management style, so perhaps Fickle was told to tear it down and build it back your way. This AD may feel the Iowa model works just fine, and the OSU way of doing things is unattainable and not affordable long term.
Yeah, I see people constantly telling us how bad some of our future opponents are. I’ll just be happy at this point if we win 6 or 7. Not many, if any gimmes left.
