Agreed from pretty serious foot injury to hamstring is encouraging. Tommi also day to day doesn’t sound like planter fasciitis - and maybe any little less concerningGreat seeing Corcoran doesn’t have a ACL injury and not out of the rest of the season.
That plantar fasciitis sucks. It's like someone is stabbing you in the foot with an icepick. Worst in the morning when you wake up and before you start moving around. Some mornings I couldn't even put any weight on that foot. Compression socks and a foot sleeve helped me deal with it.Agreed from pretty serious foot injury to hamstring is encouraging. Maher coming in is huge - I wonder how many old kickers he called after Friday?
Action plans - love it. Better than the “we just need to get better”
You make a lot of good points here, but the clock management at the end of the half I had no problem with. He was playing it down so that only one team could score, and that was us. The way our defense was playing, giving Illinois the ball back with a minute to go would have been terrible. He played that the way it should have been played.Did anyone ask Rhule why he freezes up at the end of games? How about not calling timeout when the wheels were coming off in OT? Was Carter Nelson in the game at the end so we could try to throw one up and utilize his freakish jumping ability? Did Rhule get a bonus for having a TO in his pocket at the end of the game? Anybody ask why he let so much time run off at the end of the first half? Yes, DR bailed him out, but otherwise we probably don't score at all on that possession, given we don't have a kicker and Rhule let over a minute run off the clock while he sat on 3 timeouts.
We can talk all we want about the players (and there is a LOT to talk about), but something is amiss with the coaches. The running scheme is way too easy to defend (not nearly enough miss-direction/counters), and opponents have figured out the 3-3-5. UNI got drilled by Hawaii last week, and barely beat no-scholarship St Thomas. They are not good, and figured out how to out-scheme White's D. We have ballers on the DL, who are consistently out of place.

second time this year we've had zero urgency at the end of the 1st half and DR bailed us out. it's oddDid anyone ask Rhule why he freezes up at the end of games? Edge and backer are my biggest concern right now. They abused us there on Friday night.Did anyone ask Rhule why he freezes up at the end of games? I was saying the whole game. You gotta keep running or you get one dimensional and they can pin their ears bag after your QB.
Yes I had this when I was working about 15 years ago but I was on feet all day 5 days a week 8 hour days and it took quite sometime before it felt better and went away..That plantar fasciitis sucks. Agreed. I know many fans and the coaches didn’t seem that concerned about UNI results based on the scoreboard. But that 10 minute drive at the beginning and nearly 40 minutes of time of possession was really concerning to many of us. And now for the second non-NU game in three weeks we see evidence they are a pretty bad football team, probably no better than middle of the pack in the MVFC.… The running scheme is way too easy to defend (not nearly enough miss-direction/counters), and opponents have figured out the 3-3-5. I agree. His DNA as the son of a preacher is obvious. But I don’t care about attending church services led by Rhule. He has two short term successes but doesn’t have a lengthy resume at any one stop so one can only wonder if those great year 3’s would have been repeated.blah blah blah blah. A bunch of coach speak. Just start winning or shut the hell up. Sorry to sound so pissy but it is the same crap we have heard after every close loss over the past 8 years. So sick of it. That was a game we should have won. Again. But did not. Again. Matt Rhule has kissed the Blarney Stone and can talk the talk. But so far he has not shown me jack **** in terms of winning close games.
We’re not the only team that has these things happen. I saw it all weekend in college and the NFL. Go watch the replay of the Niners game. How come when it come to f ing up Nebraska does **** nobody has seen before.
Well, last I saw Purdue was like #131 against the run so if we don't pound it this week we never will.quit talking about it and DO IT
It’s part of his job. He has to do it. We don’t have to watch or listen to the press conferences. We need to chill. I can understand some frustration and depression but damn people need to get a grip. They bought in too much to the preseason hype and hysteria after we beat CU. This is not a playoff team. Never was. Strive like hell to get to 7-8 wins and keep building. Keep landing 4 star LBers, OTs and TEs that teams like OU, Bama and Georgia are recruiting hard. I know I want it NOW too but that isn’t how it works.blah blah blah blah. A bunch of coach speak. Just start winning or shut the hell up. if we throw it 30 times it will be very, very disconcerting.Well, last I saw Purdue was like #131 against the run so if we don't pound it this week we never will.
I tend to agree with you here. I send in another thread that we weren't expecting to go to the playoff this year. This loss stings because we should have won, but we are still building. CFB is a grinder and you literally have to bring it every week until you have a roster like Georgia or the the Big Boys. Seems like everyone has struggled at least 1 week this year. Georgia struggled at Kentucky. Oregon struggled against a few people, ND, LSU, Michigan, etc. This is Rhule's hardest job is having the team to have the mentality that every week is a Colorado or Iowa type week. That you just need to leave everything on the field and go get after it. So hard to do and we still need to develop our roster. It’s part of his job. He has to do it. I love that you see so many of the youngsters out there as well. My personal opinion is this team will be a lot better once the final players of the Frost era leave. Just need to finally get away from taking about that ****. I'm all for motivation, but the Chasing 3 **** to me just ties us back to those past coaches and we need to shed that. That is one good thing I love Rhule is doing because I feel like Shavers, WM4, Kai, Van Popple, Jacory, etc are all going to be studs and create their own path, not dwell in the previous regimes failures.

I don't need a condescending lecture on needing to chill or how I just do not understand the "process". And it was Rhule himself who built up expectations preseason by talking about the big goals that this team has. That they were a "good team" that would achieve more than just getting to a bowl game. The hype train started long before the CU game. And I get that it is "his job" to hold press conferences. Again, I don't need a lecture from you on what his job is. But the dude rambles on and on and on. I think he needs to talk a lot less. Just answer the questions without all of the lengthy commentary which amounts to nothing but a load of hot air until he shows us he is a winning coach. It’s part of his job. He has to do it. Condescending? Really? How about trying to apply logic to the situation. IF people want to lay blame for that loss they need to blame White. The defense was WAY more responsible for that outcome than anything Foley could have controlled. People think Maher is going to sprinkle pixie dust over the kickers so they don't miss kicks or mishit punts. Maher has been working with our kickers since fall camp. Alvano is injured and had a set back from his surgery to repair his injury he played with last fall. I get the frustration but it's illogical to lay all the blame on Foley. The kid who missed that kick may in fact turn out to be the answer but there's no way to be sure just yet. Justin Tucker, Mr Automatic has been awful this fall in the NFL. Maher himself lost his job multiple times in the NFL for missing extra points. We're talking about a 19 year old kid missing a kick. We're talking about a punter who blasted the ball 60 yards in the air but to the middle instead of the side then two of our cover guys got held with no flag. Even then the DEFENSE could have stopped them. The same damned thing happened to the Niners last night.I don't need a condescending lecture on needing to chill or how I just do not understand the "process". I am not one who expected us to be a playoff team. Go back and check. You will see my preseason prediction was 6-6. And the fact is dingle, though I greatly respect you as one of the long time posters on here, you have a track record of defending our long list of failed coaches right up to the bitter end and accusing those of us who can see the obvious of not seeing the "big picture" like you apparently can. It is you who need to "chill" on your constant pollyanna, silver lining boosterism and your constant need to belittle anyone with two eyes who can see the obvious.
And the obvious is this: we are not a very good football team. And we were outcoached last week and the week before. And in many games last year. And if you take DR out of the equation we are actually in some says, so far anyway, a worse team than we were last year especially on defense. Rhule is going to be loyal to his buddies Satterfield and Foley and both are huge liabilities. So sorry, but it seems to me that Rhule is following the same path as previous failed coaches here. And that is to remain stubbornly loyal to staff who are not getting the job done. We keep leaving points on the field of play. Last year and this year. That is not an accident.
I think we are a good football team, we just lack identity.I don't need a condescending lecture on needing to chill or how I just do not understand the "process".
