Did some research on him as I had no idea about his story...he isn't as old as I would have thought in this circumstance...he's 26 (how is that possible in your 9th year of college)..?

He also played in every game for the Canes last year which makes this decision to grant his 9th year even more puzzling. i'd have more empathy if he got Aaron Rogered last season (no i wouldnt now that i think about it more)

Personally I think its a terrible idea to let 26 year olds play a sport where they will hitting kids as young as 19, and that's just one of the issues with it

Ninth-Year Tight End Cam McCormick Scores First Miami Touchdown of 2024 Season

College football careers are starting to dwarf NFL career length. I guess I'm just surprised that a ninth year player actually contributed.

Cue the Tommy Boy references.
I expect this to be the next lawsuit against the NCAA. With NIL players will sue that somehow the 4 year rule violates their civil rights. If a student can go to school indefinitely why can't they play sports?

Players are paid now and it's already turning into a semi-professional league. The 19 yo will just have to deal with it.

As far as the 19yo goes, there's definitely going to be fewer and fewer opportunities for HS seniors in top level college football. Why would a coach take a 19yo when you can go get a seasoned player who is 3-4 more years physically mature? It's already happening in a major way in D1 baseball.

Sounds similar to people who think men should be able to box against women to me. "just deal with it"...Its a terrible idea and a selfish move on the 26 y/o part.
Are you really comparing a 26 year old playing a 20 year old to a man fighting a woman? Really?

Better shut down the byu program asap!

Those 19 yo kids wanted to get paid and allowed unlimited transfers. They've even attempted to invoke anti-trust to push for those things. Considering that it is now possible to transfer 4 or 5 times before running out your eligibility, I don't see how that makes sense in terms of the student athlete moniker. It is only sensible then that if you are attending the college, you should be eligible to play. And considering there are a lot of 25+ year olds attending college, I see no reason why they shouldn't be eligible. Imo, someone attending grad school in their late 20s or 30s should be more deserving of gaining eligibility over a 21 year old who has already transfered 3 or 4 times. We've opened up a whole can of worms with these rule changes. Be careful what you wish for.

The excuse is the same. So yes.

Maybe I have the BYU thing wrong, but I was always under the impression they don't enroll in college for those mission trips? ..and those trips dont count against their college years? Not much you can do about somebody who enrolls later in in life...but I don't like it in their case either. I dont think 26 y/o dudes should be playing CFB...and I dont think thats a crazy take...and nobody should be able to play CFB for 9 years. I think he looks like an idiot. YMMV and thats fine to.
