I'm not sure people who didn't grow up in Lincoln realize how ingrained the football team was with youth in the community. Speaking to individual classrooms. School events at Devaney. We had a player speak to my confirmation class at church. The charity basketball games at LSE.

The first video I just happened to stumble upon a couple months ago and was so glad I watched it. May be the best interview of an "outsider" getting to know Brook Berringer and sharing how great of an impact he had on him and others.

I only just turned 8, but I don't have any memories of his passing at all. I was probably just a bit too young to care about Husker football, world events etc.

Played basketball vs him in HS, we were different classifications in football so never played. I lived in Goodland in 96&97 and can picture the services held for him vividly in my mind. The first word always that he brought to mind was competitor.

Was a tough tough day for many of us Husker fans and our children who idolized him..

Tragic day.
I learned when I came home from work.

He is just what you would wish your son to be.
