Yes, but any league not named NFL is doomed to fail. The fact that they keep popping up is incredible.

We could, but I don’t want it. The surest way to erode our state’s biggest natural advantage in football—unparalleled fan support—is to introduce a pro team and start dividing that household entertainment dollar.

Pro team?
I think they work for gift cards.

Omaha has failed at all it's feeders into professional sports including as plank owners of the Kansas City-Omaha Kings NBA franchise that moved on to California. There is only one brand in the State of Nebraska that sells. Sorry, Creighton, but it is true.

It could but, again, who cares?

It would not be about supporting the team, it would be about something to do and a place to drink....it would be like a Jay's game only instead of bad basketball with no one paying attention it would be bad football with no one paying attention.

Change one of the options to:

Yes, play at Memorial stadium with a Big Red volleyball game played at every half-time, instant sell out.

...or just show a nipple, or 2, on the video board.

I don't even know what an Omaha Beef is...is that like an Italian Beef in Chicago?
It's the minor league football team that can only be described as immortal. They came here from a distant planet in the year 2000.
In what must be an interstellar record are now joining their seventh league in 2024.
Minor league football players are mostly locals who probably played in college and have a love for the game. They have two dreams, to win a league title, and hope they don't show up.to practice or play a game and find the gates locked.

I had season tickets to both the Nighthawks and the Lightning... Enjoyed them both the short time they were around... I do think Nebraska could support it if there was a viable league.

I'll also be curious to see how the Pro Volleyball thing shakes out... I think I heard there's 2 teams going to be in Nebraska???

I'd much rather see NU pursue a hockey team. I myself don't watch any hockey but I can't deny how popular it is and how passionate it's fans are.

This is the Midwest for God's sake. The B1G already has a good hockey following. NU should have hockey... with beer.

Creighton has its target market.

Nebraska already has a national brand through the University. Need to get the right folks in charge to resurrect it. Let’s all hope that’s happening now and everyone is aligned. No Corp self-serving BS to line pockets and keep stringing fans along… that philosophy will be dead…. dead…. dead … soon. The winnng years are too far removed from the younger generation/fan base.

Apologies for the bitterness, Husker football has just got me on tilt. ✌️

High school, College football, and NFL played simultaneously from fall until winter is enough.

When you introduce the castoffs league in the spring and summer, it becomes saturated. They should just give it up.

I think the factor here are local successful businessmen who want to play Jerry Jones and pretend to own a football team.

Could have just ended the thread here.
I am always shocked they even keep trying.

I get they are all trying to "hit the lottery" like the NFL did, where these dudes bought a team for 100K and now it is worth insane jack...but I think it has shown over and over...it is not going to work.

Trying to take an an established market with an worse product is just bad business.

Seriously, how many times does it have to be a proven failing proposition before people realize that it's not going to work. I get that America is hungry for football, but we clearly have a saturation point. The market has spoken. Multiple times.

Amen!

I just don't get it anymore. No one goes to the games, no one watches the games. No one buys the merch.
