Nebraska: Hey Will, we’ll allow you to hold onto the ball with one hand whenever you want. All of our QBs are allowed to.

Will: sounds great…I hate accountability and doing things right.

Nebraska: Okay good. We’re also big on throwing sidearm…not to adapt, but as a regular motion.

Will: again, that sounds good. I’m not a fan of discipline.

Nebraska: how well do you think you can fumble? Our guy(qb coach and OC) is a big fumble guy.

Will: just show me where to sign!!!!

The portal:
Reminds me some of the Cuban refugee crisis where the U.S. was conned into taking the inhabitants of Cuban prisons.
Got to wade through some of this. 5 star guy who never played in three years. Dude who can't pass up a vape shop without committing a crime. Town has a series of unsolved rapes that mysteriously end when said player goes elsewhere. Anyone who commits a nightmarish amount of turnovers.

When someone wants to go elsewhere you've got to find out why.
I've heard the transfer portal is to regular recruiting like meeting a girl and marrying the next day in Vegas is to a regular dating & engagement. It happens too fast and you don't really know what you're truly getting. Our Huskers excel in finding the wrong guys it seems. Take the two five star transfers NU has brought in-- zero starts, zero stats and lots of criminal activity.

Good question. Everyone is so focused on "who will we get?" but it's a lock that we'll lose someone that hurts.
It would be crippling to be trying to break through as a developmental program and lose some top freshmen that you actually hit on.

But also Toure, Trey Palmer, Omar Brown, etc.

He’s the lowest valued QB in the top 25, or was as of 2 weeks ago. RANKED teams, so that’s good. He’d still be a HUGE improvement over what we’ve got (lol that’s not saying much, at all), but we can afford better. IMHO.
That's the Husker football fan mantra of the 21st century. Pass over good recruits for the CHANCE of bringing in someone else who would be more of a "wow" signing.

Huh? Did the OSU kid ever get in trouble.

We've had a few good ones, mostly busts though. And still 0 for 2 with five star transfers (no surprise).
I don't think we passed on anyone good to get those 2 players. It isn't like we have NFL caliber players beating down our door. I think you are angry at the portal for nothing.

I'm not angry at the portal. We haven't brought in the right guys and we have the record to show for it. Jeff Sims, for example. Tanner Lee, etc. I'm going to waste time with any research, but I would say that our hit rate on transfers is not good. And like all bad recruiting, it hurts you on fall Saturdays. That said, I'm all for improving the team through the portal. But please try to know what you are getting.

So I saw some video going over the numbers and each year the portal blows up more… last year was around 3200 or so guys I believe. They expect more this year.
Everyone else is like us, thinking they are going to grab portal help at QB.
We better be ready to pay up

Our coach is sour on the portal and would rather not engage. He said he wants the portal to be an aid, not the method of getting his players ala Deion.

surprised not to see N on this list.

Washington or Louisville would be excellent choices for him to elevate his game. I’d be shocked if he came here considering how inept our OC is

I would hope he would go in heavy at positions of need like quarterback. It wouldn’t be ideal to never develop your own. But if there are stud tackles, or a receiver, you better play the game and always be upgrading your talent level.

I passionately hate NIL and the outright corruption it has produced.
Anyone really believe these offers have anything all to do with the local taco barn looking for a spokesman?

The 2 five stars were always longshots. Worth taking a chance on but obviously they hadn't worked out at their prior stops so they had never earned their stars at the college competition level.

I'd be interested in knowing the marriage success rate for Vegas one-day marriages compared to traditional courtship. It might be surprising. I worked with an Indian (from India) who was fixed up with his wife. Had never seen her before and they married within a month. He claimed those kinds of marriages parents arrange were significantly more successful than the courtship model.

Either way, our portal acquisitions didn't set the world on fire, but we got a couple good receivers and Thompson.

Some of the young producers might be sniffing around for cash. Take Lloyd for example, hope the collective takes care of him.

Any player who hasn’t already transfered once can be bought in this ****** new world of NIL. Gotta have enough $$$ protect the best parts of your roster and enough to buy new players. This **** is so stupid, but until they put some needed regulations on NIL, this is the game. Either play it or get left behind…

Give this man a blank check?

Isn't that tampering tho? Thought it was against the rules to extend NIL offers before the portal opens up? Sarcasm of course...seems pretty obvious everyone is "tampering" and as per uzhe, not a damn thing the NCAA is gonna do about it.

Whatever one's feeling about NIL, at least it's legal for all schools to participate in NIL. Prior to the days of NIL, you had some SEC schools cheating with under the table cash while other schools felt constrained and followed NCAA rules.

They were talking on DP show yesterday that Deion told recruits CU isn't an ATM. So probably a bad example.

When it started I REALLY thought it would be 500 dollars here and 1000 dollars here, showing up to a car dealership and signing autographs for cash or a car to use for the year.

I never thought it would be like it is. It is probably a good thing I was not in charge of a schools NIL stuff!

It’s why Bama says they’re not giving large NIL payments to first year players. They’re saving it for transfers☹️. It’s a mess.

Neither of those two 5 star transfers were ever described as long shots when they were brought in.

What you state was the intent. It got Alabamed and Oklahomed almost immediately. The NCAA can't find itself among all this. They sure hopped on that sign stealing thing though.

There were multiple detractors on here of the OSU DB. I wasn’t one of them but I try to be optimistic. We had room for him so it was a low cost risk.
