When did Benny Beaver that was an affable-looking beaver with buck teeth and a sailor's cap that said "OSU" turn into a vile-looking rodent similar to the moles I catch in traps? I sure hope Kansas never turns the Jayhawk into a similarly sinister creature.

Here is a Herkie the Hawk image from around the 1920s. It seems their mascot was always nasty-looking. They have really dumbed it down over the years, maybe the students caused it to mellow.
