You can bypass it now if you want to and the speed traps that follow it - Hampton and Waldo - have been dismantled by the state's attorney general. I have actually stayed in Starke before, always choosing to stay in a place that heads me back toward S.C. Probably the best place to say is along the road leading into Jacksonville Airport. Lots of hostelry on the airport side of I-95 and plenty of places to eat on either side at that exit. There's also a back road out to I-295.

I do remember that Stark is a speed trap! We are staying with family in town. Do y'all know if there is a Gamecock bar that fans meet up??

The best thing that EVER came out of that s&@thole, Starke Florida, was Ted Bundy’s lifeless body! I got pulled there by officer TWO TON TERI. Ugliest, sloppiest, fatest LEO I’ve ever encountered. Gave me a speeding ticket even though a car with Florida tags had blown my doors off at the red light. Coincidentally we were returning from the USC/UF football game. I wouldn’t stop to piss in Starke Florida!

My experience is get in town early and look for something within four or five blocks of the stadium. It's a tough parking town.
