Where did you see they are requiring masks? Their website says masks are no longer required:

So the "teacher push" is not really about masks...it is about going remote.
I hated teaching remote BUT...if I had 2-3 years left until retirement, I could totally see why they would be pushing for masks because that would mean a push for remote.
Remote teaching, as you non-teachers that now work remote, know how easy life it.
I get up at 5am now, not a big deal. When I "taught" remote, I got up pretty much whenever I wanted before 8am.
I ended class when I wanted. I cancelled class when I wanted and sent the notes/work to the class and then went golfing. On Friday I would make sure I was done with my last class by 2pm so that I could chill or hit up happy hour.
Errands, yeah it was great to be able to do that during the day. Or get chores done or make appointments that I could go to during the day.
I think the real pain in the *** was parents found out that they hated having their annoying kids at home all day, which I totally get. Teachers went from "heroes" to "villains" within 3 months.
Truth is, we are neither a hero or a villain, we are just normal people.
I hated "teaching" remote but it did make my life very very easy.

Going remote for school harms the development of children. Suck it up and go to class.
No wonder kids are getting dumber these days with that mentality. During Covid I was physically at my desk everyday, just like any other ordinary day. Can't believe you up and brag about it!

It won't be Covid. The US gave the WHO full authority to declare a pandemic. The WHO will find something around March of next year requiring mail-in voting. The WHO is laying the foundation now with a new strain of something...
Didn't comply the first time. I'm very happy and blessed to have witnessed the Covid absurdity. I now know who to avoid and I know that I'm surrounded by folks who cannot think for themselves, a huge advantage.
Kids are smarter today than ever. More advanced in tech, coding, math, foreign language. What my students do in school each day destroys what I did and what you did in school. They are constantly attached to their classrooms because of the internet, they never get to "leave class behind"

You knew after last year that they were going to push a Covid vaccine every fall just like the flu shot..

But, every generation of old people complain that the younger people are dumb but all we do is keep advancing in pretty much every possible way.
Know someone that works at methodist critical care and she told me the ones last year that were being a admitted were the one that we’re getting the recent Covid shot last year..
With all due respect, it's an attitude like this from way too many teachers and the teachers unions that helps explain why our public education system in the US is an absolute disaster. Lots of other reasons, too, not the least of which is the breakdown of the family.
A good teacher is worth her weight in gold and they need to be compensated for the extremely important work they do. But the bad ones (and they are legion) do a lot of damage.
If you don't have the desire to sacrifice for kids or the personality that is required to do so, do everyone a favor and get out of education. I was in education early in my career and decided I wasn't wired to do it and got out.

It's not "their" rules. Quit playing pretend. It's absurd and an assault on the freedom of these kids and their health.
Per the CDC Covid Data Tracker, Covid hospitalizations are up 21.6% and Covid deaths are up 8.3% for the week. Summer numbers have been low of course, but I, my wife and one of my SILs contracted Covid on a cruise and I'm assuming a number of other passengers ended up in that same boat. Our cases were not reported, and I would imagine case counts are difficult to track. But this is not true of hospitalizations and deaths.
If I'm a parent and case counts rise in the fall a bit more than expected, I'd rather have my kid in school wearing a decent mask than shuttering the schools again. But then again, I'm not a political reactionary when it comes to viral biology.

Every single teacher I’ve talked to hated it as well. They ended up spending more time trying to help individual kids and it almost completely wiped out their evenings. We had a hybrid model that first fall and that was a mess. Lots of kids got left behind.
