Iowa and Nebraska are identical states. Mostly farmland as far as the eye can see, little if any elevation changes, white people wearing overalls and voting for Trump. Both states suck, I just can’t quite decide which is worse.
Now let Daddy do the thinking for you. Take a deep breath and get back to work.

evidence shows Nebraska fans are either friendly or apathetic toward iowa. some freely admit to rooting for iowa when not playing the Huskers.

same evidence shows extreme dislike for Nebraska by iowa fans. I can't imagine a single anecdote of an iowa fan rooting for Nebraska in any circumstance (open to being proven incorrect if you have some you'd like to share).

this whole "we're not friends" business is unidirectional.

you even said yourself you're not here to troll, so I can only deduce that you are here because it gives you a feeling of being "behind enemy lines" or, like many from fanbases across the country, you have a more than passive interest in what the Huskers are up to.

as a gigantic national brand, we are used to this. college football and Nebraska are synonymous, after all.

as stated earlier, there will be many and more mixed watch parties (hosted by Nebraska fans where all are welcome) for our annual friendly the day after Thanksgiving.
I actually came here to see why Betts left, stumbled upon this thread. I’m definitely not a fan of Nebraska. I’d rather see them lose than win. Living in SW Iowa, working 25 years in Omaha can do that to you. However, I was in Lincoln for one of your NC’s in the 90’s, cheering for NU. Partied on O St after the game.

Familiarity breeds contempt. I have family and friends who are die hard Huskers and they are awesome people. I love Runzas and Amigos Veggie Burritos. I have had a great time at every Husker home game I have attended and found the people from both states and fan bases have more in common than either would like to admit. If I had my choice of being in a foxhole with a random person from Nebraska and one from California or New York Id take the Nebraskan every time.

That all being said I hope your entire football program gets buried 6 feet under and the best you have to hope for is a woman‘s volleyball win once in awhile.

this is the difference

I 100% guarantee your contempt is unrequited. your family and friend Husker fans don't spend a single second conjuring hardship on your team, while you are consumed by it

most probably need to hear from you how iowa did that week, also, while you haven't missed a Nebraska game in years

Not much wrong with either Nebraska or Iowa, Trump even for that matter. Football talk is when Iowa comes off the rails to dirt road fantasies of greatness. BTW, there are more blacks and hispanics in Nebraska small towns than you know. It is also harder to find a pair of bib overalls than it is to find crotchless panties.

See, I'm almost the exact opposite. I couldn't care less about what happens to your racist football program. Alternatively, I hope all the women in Io_a lose both arms, get crabs and the men become their cat-scratching subservients. Your state sucks and the people are the reason.

This ^^^^^^

If iowa fans were given the choice of:

1. iowa finishes with 8-10 wins with no conference championships and beats Nebraska 7 straight.

or

2. iowa finishes 8-10 wins with one conference championship and a CFP appearance (iowa losses their CFP game), but Nebraska beats them 5 out of 7 times during those years.

iowa fans are choosing 1 all day long, the Nebraska game is the most important game on the schedule to iowa fans. Nebraska fans would much rather sacrifice a few wins against iowa if it means Nebraska gets one conference championship and a CFP appearance.

They are. Mostly in West Point. I don't know if Wimmers has a patent on hot dog launchers but it is amusing and charming to see Iwegians sporting dog launchers with the "Wimmers" logo. Wimmers to my knowledge is the exclusive supplier for dogs in Memorial Stadium and they market a "Stadium Dog" as large as brats in a six pack and my favorite "Official Dog of Husker Nation" in larger bundles.
Think they got bought out about 10 years and moved production to Illinois.

no quicker way to build hate then to attack the kids of the enemy.

i don't hate iowa currently, that's why I'm saying we need to get this rivalry off the ground. for me it's just another game against iowa st.
Except for Iowa actually beats them...

Wimmers bought out fairbury brand.....the original red dog and that was somewhere near the time our fb team started tanking. Could be off year or 2. Wimmers changed the recipe and they're not as good as the fairbury brand

Worked with a guy for years whom swore that it was the addition of artificial additives and paprika - which apparently he was very allergic to.

Can't say. Rumor was part of the sales contract was wimmers couldn't change the recipe and if they did then fairbury could start producing them again. Could be an urban, ahem, rural legend but after a couple years fairbury steaks brand was marketing red hot dogs. Baxter 48 might have better info than me. He's closer to the situation

I don't hate the state of Iowa....currently sipping coffee on a covered porch in a historic neighborhood in Des Moines....been riding bikes all over this place for the last 2 days...their cycling scene is second to none. Amazing breweries....very clean city....only issue, and it's a big one....all the homeless. Along the rec path heading north out of the city next to the river looks like San Fran...I was shocked. It's bad enough i'd never let my wife use that trail by herself.

From what I remember is that Roodes meats sold out to wimmers all their products but rumor has it they left out a ingredient for the hotdogs so they don’t taste like the original fairbury hotdog ill add neither does the summer sausage
anyway that was the rumor floating around the fairbury area soon after the sale

I think Roodes sold to wimmers in the mid 1990’s I could be wrong with timeline

It's a common thing, like the sky is blue. Surely, you know what ignoramuses there are in Iowa.
I mean, ignoramuses is a word, right? Like more than one. Common in Iowa. You know what I mean, Vern?
