Should be three single digits left. 6,8, and 9. Who do we think get them?

I’ll go with: Newsome, Ty and Fidone.

There are 2 left, unless they are giving someone Piper’s. An Oline guy, if picked should have the option of wearing Shield’s or Rimmington’s number.

Agreed- Curious if one of the RBs will snag one.

Wild cards like Hartzog, Sanford, Buschini, Alex Bullock, Boerkircher, Tommi Hill would not shock me.

I'm really liking this new 'tradition' after being skeptical of it upon it's announcement.

Do players hold onto these numbers for the entire season once they're awarded?

Piper had the option to wear a single digit in practice and declined, so I am assuming they can give it.

That's an interesting idea.

I wonder if any of the OL were voted single digit guys this go around.

I would think/hope so.
1. There’s a lot that goes into into as far as
how hard you work, setting the example for the rest of the team. Players vote on it. So it’s a players thing. Coaches have no say in it.
2. Consistency. As an example, I hated the way Bo did the Blackshirts. He would wait until they had a good game, usually against a bad team. Then they always **** the bed the following game or two and get them taken away. That doesn’t motivate anyone.
3. Only way I see you losing one is if you get a DUI, or you totally tank on the a academic side of things.

I would as soon seen Hartzog as Ty. Mainly...with Nash as a single digit, and if Ty were a single digit and NU can't stop the run, it kinda makes the process look flawed. JMO

I wasn't gonna call up Matt and tell him it was a bad idea, but I thought I had a good idea also.

2 to the top vote getting SRs, 2 to the top 2 JR's, 2 to the top SOPH, 2 to the top 2 Frosh, and 2 to the top vote getting Walk-ons.

I absolutely don't have a problem with the way Rhule does it though.

In my way of thinking, it pretty much eliminates almost all SOPHS, FROSH and Walk-ons.

Bullock is a former walkon redshirt frosh (maybe soph)

So these guys could all be different numbers next year? I know numbers are just that but as a kid they are sometimes a big deal, especially in the world of NIL and social media

I think Fidone like’s the #24, I believe he wore that in high school so I don’t think he really wans a single digit #..

That's a good point. On the flip side, I think Newsome has always worn #6, and Sherman has always worn #8. So I'm sure they would really like to keep those numbers.

I think maybe those two if not Hartzog, and perhaps (hopefully) one of the backs - since that's a position we should be wanting the team to be acknowledging where the toughness is at.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rhamir got #9... Based on the clip we saw of him laying wood in practice that Rhule spotlighted as what he desires from the rest of the team.

Good point. Maybe I need to change my prediction to: Newsome (6), Sherman (8), and Ervin (9).

So are we going to have a super special name for single digit blackshirts? Like "Super Blackshirts?"
