Or starting next year (which ever comes first), which becomes more of a priority: Conference Championship or Playoff spot?

Winning king of the pedophiles doesn’t move the needle.. get in the playoffs and hope the ball bounces our wayTo answer your question - Playoff spot is all that will matter. Conference titles will be awesome, but a team will need to win enough games to get to a conference title to ensure a spot in the playoff.

If you win a conference championship you will most likely be guaranteed a playoff spot.Or starting next year (which ever comes first), which becomes more of a priority: Conference Championship or Playoff spot?

But you don't need to win a conference championship to be in the playoff. So again, what is more important. If you win a conference championship you will most likely be guaranteed a playoff spot.
I don't think you are going to see divisions in college football again until they break away from the NCAA. Leagues want their best teams playing in the football tournament. They also want to maintain elements of history and the lure of days past. Michigan and Ohio St will play ever year. if they are the top 2 teams in the league, they don't want a 3rd team from a weaker division to muck it up and take away a playoff
In this scenario, assuming 6 pac schools added that could really stink for 1 of them. Or worse yet, what if they go geographic and NU is the next farthest west having to go to the coast for pod. I guess atleast half games at home in podIF the league goes to 20, go to 4 pods of 5. 4 games against the same every year. Rotate the other five games H/A then move to the next pod. Won’t see everyone in a four year period but if you go 20, like this the best
That is a possibility and yeah the situation isn’t idealIn this scenario, assuming 6 pac schools added that could really stink for 1 of them. Or worse yet, what if they go geographic and NU is the next farthest west having to go to the coast for pod. I guess atleast half games at home in pod
this would not be all bad.. you would have a new recruiting base, likely stronger than the west coast has ever been.. in fact, that might be just the ticket for us.In this scenario, assuming 6 pac schools added that could really stink for 1 of them. They’re going to have to have divisions if they go to 20. It’s crazy. To answer your question - Playoff spot is all that will matter. Conference titles will be awesome, but a team will need to win enough games to get to a conference title to ensure a spot in the playoff.
It will be 24 eventually. Probably soon er than later. It needs to be.Or starting next year (which ever comes first), which becomes more of a priority: Conference Championship or Playoff spot?

Or just keep it how it is and see all the games for free...or go back to where fans could actually drive and afford attending football games in person. Yeah, let me just fly our to Cali and then Florida to watch this regular season football game. So dumbWhat would be cool is if cfb games went to the nfl model. Still keep the tv contracts but have something like sunday ticket that would show most games for a 1 time fee instead of having 5 different streaming services.

The more it expands geographically, the better for us in many ways.
As long as money is to be made they will still happen. May just help dictate seeding for the playoffs???Conference championship games may die.
Not a chance. The university presidents are not going to give up easy guaranteed money.Conference championship games may die.
I just hope dish uses their btn alternative channels. Show more games if adding schools and sportsWhat would be cool is if cfb games went to the nfl model. At least we don’t have to worry about saving up for tickets and travel LOL. Let’s try and be crack the top 5 in the BIG. Then we cal talk about the rest. It’s not happening anytime soon.If you win a conference championship you will most likely be guaranteed a playoff spot.
No, the NFL is a far superior product. Any of the 32 teams can make it to the Super Bowl with good management and player development, that is not true of the NCAA. As it is, fewer than 10 teams, have a realistic chance at the national championship.I think this is all nonsense from conference realignment, NIL, possibly moving away from the ncaa - it all smells like the NFL model which is what I don't want.
CFB > NFL by 10 country miles for me.
With the introduction of the amount of NIL money in the game we’ve seen it would hard to see CFB as ending anything else than an NFL like experience in the long run.No, the NFL is a far superior product. Sounds ludicrous I suppose. Could you imagine being in a western subdivision with OU, Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Arkansas? That would be fun. Unworkable? Yes. But everything is headed to a giant cluster anyway.Nebraska needs to have a breakout year and try to get into the SEC.. the old timers still hold our name in high regards.

And that should be the only way you can get into the playoffs. If a conference wants 24 teams, fine. One team gets in. Independent teams must win 11 games and achieve a high enough strength of schedule rating. Each conference gets one team in. Eight team playoff. Conference champs with the worst strength of schedule get nosed out.If you win a conference championship you will most likely be guaranteed a playoff spot.
I agree and that's why I don't like it. Conference tournaments in basketball are a big deal for the smaller conferences, but kinda "meh" for the P5 schools. It's like the wildcard was for Nebraska HS basketball. When teams know that they are "in", there's a letdown. But you don't need to win a conference championship to be in the playoff. So again, what is more important.
It will be just like college hoops. Winning the league regular season or conference tourney title is great, but getting into the NCAA tournament is the goal
Since all fans everywhere are supposed to care about tv money even though we don't see one dime of it and the cost of everything keeps going up, what's the financial gain to adding six teams?Or starting next year (which ever comes first), which becomes more of a priority: Conference Championship or Playoff spot?

Agreed. No point in dividing existing revenue with more schools. The new commish has deep ties in the tv sports industry. I'm sure that wasn't a coincidence. If they are adding more teams I would assume they have a clause to amend the deal in place. If they are adding another 2 or 4 teams in the near future you can bet they have been in discussions with the networks.Since all fans everywhere are supposed to care about tv money even though we don't see one dime of it and the cost of everything keeps going up, what's the financial gain to adding six teams?
A new $7 billion over the next seven years. Would you rather divide that by 14 or 20?

Games are a month away. I can't find anything recent about the deal other then the commish stating that being on network tv is what the Big 10 wants and that 27 out of the top 30 viewed CFB games last year were on network tv.The tv deal isn’t done
This reeks of desperation
