No difference that the sec football teams schedule lower tier fcs schools in October or November
I remember going to one of these and of course Nebraska was in the winners bracket. The losers bracket was playing next, most everyone left so we could sit where ever.
Sat right behind one of the team's benches. With it being so quiet we could hear the coach like we were in the huddle.
He wasn't saying anything technical or brilliant just begging guys to get rebounds and make good shots, block out etc.
On TV I was always assuming there was this grand strategy going on, guess not. I think broadcasters trump up that kind of thinking.
Basically, no different than your junior high coach.

The difference for all you stooges is that we won’t have anyone in the non-con schedule worth a **** aside from Creighton and forget good wins, we need mediocre wins. sweeping this "event" represents neither.

did the same thing last year we played Queens ,I don’t think we are playing everyone will will play 1 team I assume.
I get that NU is not going to persuade Power 6 programs to play in this heralded event, but couldn't they at least get some teams that are mildly interesting?
Hell, call up Tim Miles and invite San Jose State. Former Husker assistant Michael Lewis is at Ball State - they would probably come. Get Northern Iowa to bus over.
That still wouldn't be a great field, but at least it wouldn't be an embarrassment.

College hoops is an RPI sport. College football is not.
Bad wins don’t move the needle a single centimeter.
If we're afraid to schedule middle-of-the-pack (at best) teams from the Mountain West, MAC and Mo Valley, that says a lot, doesn't it?
SEC schedule to be in the playoffs and the presidents still haven’t passed to play 9 conference games even though the commissioner is pushing for it..
Football doesn’t have a RPI because they only play one game a week and basketball plays 3/1 ratio compared to football.
Again, being the best allows that luxury

It’s very very tired & extremely incorrect to say their schedule is what makes them great. The SEC play more top 25 non-con opponents than the cowardly B1G every year.
Duke played 11 games before ACC play last year with with 5 being away from Cameron.

Ever occur to you that SEC have no reason to ever play up north? They don't recruit very many kids there, so there is no reason to waste their time playing second rate schools in that part of the country.

Second rate games are not playing a non power 5 conference game and the SEC plays plenty of them just as the B1G..
Hell the last time any SEC teams ( Alabama,Auburn, LSU) came to Lincoln was clear back in the early Osborne era.
The last time Tennessee played a B1G team (Ioway) was when they played in them Pigskin classics…
It takes both teams from the conference that want to play one another..
Nebraska and Tennessee are the only 2 that will actually play in the future..

There is a reason the SEC rarely travels outside their footprint. They don't want to risk changing the narrative. Look how Saban scheduled neutral site games, still in the south. Gives the appearance of a tougher game, while still playing in a stadium that is at least half Bama fans. They went to Texas last year and look at what happened. Bama has some good series coming up. Look forward to seeing what happens.

The SEC absolutely owns the BIG now and historically. Again, there is no gain for an SEC team to play there.
Because they play all the bowl games down south..
And as far as Nebraska concerned, Nebraska has owned the SEC and I’m not including Missouri..

Why doesn't the NFL play all playoff games in the south if it doesn't matter? It does matter. You hate the Big 10. I get it. You don't think Georgia playing a bowl game in Atlanta or LSU playing in New Orleans is an advantage for them?
do they pick the site of the playoffs? do they pick where the Peach Bowl or Sugar Bowl is played?

I do not believe any B1G school aside from us and pennst even attempt to schedule SEC opponents regardless of arena. if you know this to be wrong, I would be very interested to see/hear it.

Look how many times USC has beaten Big 10 teams in the Rose Bowl, can’t tell me that didn’t matter under those circumstances..
