VerMaas chose Nebraska over Iowa State, but was beginning to pick up interest from Iowa, Kansas and other regional Power-5 schools.
VerMaas has been a frequent visitor to Lincoln and after a visit in December said he came away impressed with the new Husker head coach.
“Talking to him, you can tell he’s a good coach to be around,” VerMaas said. “He worries a lot about his kids and who’s going to be playing for him. He said to get going in the right direction we’re going to need to be able to get behind him and if we can get behind him, he can get behind us.”

He’s a dude. I assume he’s a safety recruit, but he’ll be playing QB for MN this year from what I hear.

Some of that is just that MN has been lame...They had a class that sort of poisoned the well, so to speak, about 10ish years ago or so, a freshmen class that was going to be really good but each year just kept getting in trouble and dicking around also some crazy parents at that time.
I know Fred was sick and tired of that group and those parents. I think as those kids became seniors, the crap they did bled down to the juniors and sophs and freshmen and it has taken time for the stench to leave.

My guess is Caden does not start at QB. Evan Hansen, a senior, started most of last of last year. And Marcus Hankins, a junior like VerMaas, QB'ed the undeated freshman team two years ago and the JV team last year.
Caden started one game as a freshman at QB when Hankins was hurt and he was fantastic. We'll see. All in all,
the Mustangs should be much better this season.

Only MN kid I can think that Nebraska missed out on in the past 10-15 years is Nick DeLuca. He was having a great career at NDSU until he got injured his Jr or Sr year.
Had he been able to stay healthy, he definitely would've been in the league for at least a few years.
I still think the Millard Schools all need their own home field...that is so stupid for them to all play at South.
An assistant at another millard school told me MN's freshman team was just destroying everyone either last year or the year before, I can't remember which. But his general point was that they're going to be good again this year and next.
Two years ago they were undefeated and dominant. But last year, I don't think they beat anybody but the Creighton Prep B team. I did see (on YouTube) some lineman that should eventually start on varsity. The FB looked pretty good and the QB was another Weindel.
I'm not from Omaha, but I didn't know they all played at MS. I figured they already all had their own fields....
Which is amazing when considering the tax base around the two schools that don't have a stadium.
Westview started like 22 sophs...but they will suck!

Westview probably starts at number one. Bellevue West and Elkhorn South should be in the top 5. As always, turnovers will be a factor in Millard North's season.

Huffman was on the radio talking about their use of the “HS transfer portal”. It looks like BW is loaded up with other teams’ talent again.
People get really turned off by him. I coached with him years ago, funny dude. The guy is a riot.
Runs a fun offense. Maybe try not running the same 6 plays for 30 years and players will come to your school too.
Ha...yeah I know. I just can't imagine that poster meant that Westview would start off at #1 in football this upcoming season. So I was guessing he meant Westside.
