I don't have high expectations, but with the portal thinning fast he might be a decent pickup.

I think Lawrence is way more talented, but Ulis gives the Huskers some backcourt depth and defensive versatility.

With Ulis around Lawrence will be able to stay at the off guard the majority of the game and Ulis playing the point a fair amount of the time. Overall that will help the team. Ulis might end up being the quickest player on the roster this next season.

That's possible, although Lawrence's distribution skills came a long way last season. While I'm not especially high on the state of the program right now, I think Lawrence has the potential to be the best guard NU has had in a long time.

However he's used on the offensive end, I'm hoping Ulis will bring some defensive intensity to the table. He was not exactly a stopper at Iowa, but seemed to be one of the few Hawkeyes who could guard a fire hydrant.

He was as good an on ball defender out on the perimeter as Iowa had last year. And I realize that isn't saying a whole lot.

On the offensive end he can handle the ball, penetrate and kick it out. His quickness will be an asset to the team. Fred will get more out of his strengths than Fran did. I can see him setting up and kicking out to Lawrence often. Fran must have thought he had some abilities or else he wouldn't have started him for 27 games. No he isn't the scorer that Chucky is. But I think he is quicker.

I suspect the idea of having fun playing basketball again might have played a role in him leaving Iowa. I can only imagine how miserable it is to play for Fran.

I’ll just say he forced turnovers and played out of control too many times.

Above average on defense and well below average with the ball and on offense. He plays like he is always second guessing himself and does not have a lot of confidence in his jumper. Most teams would not even guard him close outside of the 3 line.

Seemed like a good kid and teammate so wish him luck.

I think there was probably a reaspon he was still in the portal and available after our top 4 choices went elsewhere, unfortunately. But, program needs depth and good locker room people (not saying we don't have good locker room people already)

Most teams hardly gave a thought of guarding Conner from the perimeter over his career as well..

…and Connor was a better three point shooter. Ulis will be a good back up for you guys. I was very impressed by Lawrence last year.
It was interesting how much Connor improved his 3 pt. shooting this past season compared to the previuos season. Maybe a mental or confidence thing.

Glad he found a place he can make a difference. Just wasn't cutting it at Iowa.

You mean if Fran hadn't cut Ulis's minutes near the end of the year, the Hawkeyes' season might have swirled down the toilet in even more spectacular fashion?
