If it was FAI surgery (and I am betting that's what is is/was) I have extensive experience on that. Went thru 3 different surgeries for it, on one hip. I believe most people fare better than I did. If his works properly the first time....year recovery, less maybe since he's so young...and he will have zero issues and will not lose anything in terms of speed or hip swivel. Nada. Zilcho.

Fairly long recovery. It might not ever cause him any problems going forward depending on how large of a tear it was. Ideally he would take the spring at least off.
