I don't know about EVERY practice but I'd be shocked if any new head coach didn't watch every game from the prior season.
He’s trying to figure out what he has before spring ball and how he can make the transition on both sides easier. There’s going to be more guys popping up in the portal over the next 10-12 weeks and he needs to get a better handle on what he needs.

How would you know this?
I think Rhule has said as much. He said he had watched all of our games before he took the job. I would think scrimmage video would be of some value in evaluating younger players to see where they fit in his scheme

A kid like Brown, entering his fourth year in the program, was looking at being behind Washington, Kemp, Fleeks, IGC and Betts in terms of reps.

Watching every snap with the BS edited out takes say 65 minutes. He probably rolled through them in a few settings and now has a detailed analysis of those games.

You'd have to pay me to watch that as well.

Hopefully he saw the puking, best practice weeks, and hungover Frost.

I'm guessing he was awed by the onside kick up 11 points in the third quarter. I know I was impressed.

Suppose Benhart will actually move if he is on the field goal/extra point team this year?

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t watch all the tape that is available

It is free information and I imagine can be extremely valuable as long as it is interpreted in the proper context

I believe he watch a lot if not all of the practice tape. He has made comments about how it won’t all be drill work and there will be competition 1’s on 1’s live game like scenarios. I would assume, by saying that, he saw that the practices were not that last year.

Matt told me personally. We have coffee at 5 am every Saturday morning. I wanted to do 6:30 so I could sleep in. Matt wanted to do 3:30 am. We split the difference. He watches film on 2024 opponents while he waits for my lazy *ss to get up.

Seriously, from a OWH article. I've just never heard of a new coach taking the time to watch practice from the year before. Sounds intense. Also sounds like it gave him an idea of where to move a few young players without much game experience.

Trev Albert wanted a grinder without hobbies. That's what he has. Rhule can golf his heart out when he's 65, at the finest clubs anywhere.

Well, what else is he going to do right now? Signing Day has passed and Spring Practice hasn't started yet. I would hope he is using the free time now to watch film.

That could be said about every new coach ever. I have never heard of a new coach going that in-depth as to watch practices from a team they didn't coach.

Generally when I read interviews with a new coach they say they want a clean slate without bias and don't watch any tape from the year before.

You're saying this happens with every coaching change?
HCSF decided it was more important to go out to Western Nebraska to hunt in order to get a feel for the pulse of the state. Build connections with the true husker fans in Gordon, Imperial, Broken Bow.

He needs to reduce around 18 scholarship players. This gives him a good idea of who goes and who stays.

Hey you forgot to include the fact that I was there as well. 😭
