First Lady of NU Football not f'ing around, according to a recent Athletic piece:

....after his wife Julie walked through the building that’s soon to house the Huskers’ football headquarters, she sought him out and didn’t mince words.

“You should be here 20 years,” Julie told Matt, according to his recounting of the conversation to a high school athletic director in the Omaha area. “Do not screw this up.”

“She was like, ‘You better win some games,’” Rhule said. “You’ve got no excuses.’”

I agree...**** Bo would still be here if he could just act nice and if the fans were not so soft.

NU is an easy job because pretty much everyone wants the HC to do well.

Getting boat raced by Wisconsin year after year didn't help Bo's cause either.

You can’t prove your first point. Things have changed quite a bit around the BIG after Bo left. Teams that had issues, PSU, OSU, and Michigan don’t have those issues anymore. Other teams elevated themselves a bit too.
Not saying the Morons that followed him couldn’t have one more games. They could’ve if they were competent. But Bo’s lack of recruiting caught up to him.

Rhule also had to tell the athletic department to quit
F-ing around and prioritize/finish the player specific areas of the new facility rather than dicking around with the administrative offices

Rhule arrived just in time to add his preferences to the final plans of the performance center, as it’s labeled by Nebraska. His input allowed Nebraska to alter a few cosmetics of the facility that matched Rhule’s messaging on culture and placed an emphasis on player recovery — a priority for the 48-year-old coach.

“Coach Rhule has been very clear,” Alberts said, “this is about the players. It’s not about us.”

Player recovery in the 70', 80, and 90's was some smokes, some weed and beers!

It was also beating the living **** out of most of your opponents so the starters could utilize most of the 4th quarter of games as recovery

another tidbit I found interesting:

Mitch Cholewinski [was hired] as coordinator of football sport science.

Cholewinski came from Texas, where he worked as associate director of applied sport science. He is tasked to educate student-athletes on proper recovery techniques and to work with strength and conditioning, the coaching staff and athletic medicine to monitor health, performance and injury risk.

injuries have been a bugaboo for us for a long time. here's hoping this approach helps mitigate that.

The #1 recovery aid (that is legal) that most college athletes neglect is sleep. The science of recovery and injury prevention is an exploding field in performance science

I think “this is about the players. It’s not about us” is an exactly right.

Having said that will the university allow for more booster money to flow to NIL or are they going to continue to try to get most of the pot? The school doesn’t win in NIL. The students do. The school wins when boosters “upgrade” facilities

If you it comes down to school A has a nicer locker room and school B pays more NIL, school B wins 90%.

School A will be still be paying plenty into NIL…

I suggest fans get involved with 1890 if we’re afraid of not having enough..

Lots of research on concussions suggesting your risk of soft tissue injury (including ACL tears) increases several fold after suffering a concussion - this risk can last 30+ days following a concussion. One study reports an increased risk for up to a full year.

Fascinating stuff - probably some type of proprioception defect in head injured players that blunts their muscle/joint protective reflexes

If he can win the first two games on the road, they should be 4-0 when Michigan comes calling and our fan base will be coming un-glued with excitement.

LOVE THIS. I get the sense that Rhule is a great guy, but doesn't mess around with what he wants to get done and isn't afraid to let people know his expectations and hold them to it.

So far, there has not been a single incident with Rhule where I said to myself “I wish he hadn’t said that.”

That was not true of our last coach.

He’s also the only one to lose by 39 points to them on the biggest stage.
Pelini had his issues, but he and Solich deserve to be in a higher category than Callahan, Riley, and Frost.

Since Osborne:

1. Solich - 0.759, 1 Conference Championship, and 1 trip to the NC game, and 3 bowl wins, 5 winning seasons out of 6. Made it to the NC game 4 years after TO left.
2. Pelini - 0.723 with 3 trips to the CCG, and 2 bowl wins. 7 winning seasons out of 7.
3. Callahan - 0.551 with 1 trip to the CCG, and 1 bowl win. 2 winning season out of 4.
4. Riley - 0.500, with one bowl win. 1 winning season out of 3.
5. Frost - 0.348, no bowls, no winning seasons in 5 years.

Solich and Pelini kept the busses running on time.

I care about one coach. Matt Rhule. This constant debate about the past coaches is pointless. Solich was decent. Pelini was crazy. The end.

Starting with his first PC when he said a lot of the players who traveled there to welcome him looked like they had been eating too much.

I love Rhule and I hope he wins more meaningful games than Bo - even though winning % may not be better

Otherwise I think beating a bunch of nobodies with a healthy dose of crazy mixed in is entertaining

Bo's still the only coach we have had who has beat Wisconsin.
You mean the one game after they changed most of their coaching staff in the off-season and a couple games after they got rid of their OC? And we still looked like crap most of the game.

You and Super fan or whatever his handle is have some weird love-fest obsession with Blo.

Yep if each “fan” gave $300 a year they’d never run out. Unfortunately, everyone wants the Boosters to foot all the bills while they *****.

I think if these cheapskates would just loosen their purse strings a little and buy every recruit a supercar of their choosing, we'd get this turned around in no time. Come on you cheap FANS, show how much you actually love kids and education! Pony up!

NU is an easy job because pretty much everyone wants the HC to do well.
Bo faced an extremely easy stretch of schedules. His non-con consisted of a down V-tech, a half-down OU, a down UCLA, a down Miami...then he played a sunbelt and a fcs every year. 2010-2014 Texas was bad, A@M was bad..the entire North was bad outside of Missouri, then the big 10 that was in a down cycle across the board until Urban took over at the end of Bo's reign. Bo won 20% of the time he played a top 25 team whether rated during game or by end of the season. With an average loss of 27 ppg. Whether Bo was nice or not NU had spent enough Money on a guy who wasn't developing the program...Cally for example developed proprietary software to help players learn the playbook, he got the spring game on NFL T.V, he was a national recruiter who talked glowingly about NU fans and hated on OU fans:). Bo acted like a HS coach who hated having to teach PE...he didn't want to do the job and this was obvious whether he was nice or not.

Once Callahan's top 5 recruiting class left Pelini's issues started getting exposed. Since he then had to shift his defenses structure to stop the run it got really simple and then teams figured out they could do things like make our guys run 80 yards or get our guys into any look they wanted before every snap it was all over. That UCLA game was really the start of the end.
