Perhaps if we could have played against Akron that year, we would have been better prepared to face Colorado, although I guess you couldn't call Akron a gimme game considering we got our teeth kicked in by Troy that year
We didn’t have Martinez and I believe our other backup was hurt also so we started a walk on which had more to do with the loss to Troy…

I often wonder what the trajectory of the 2018 season (and Frost's career) would have been if they had played and beat Akron. Would it have propelled them to 6 + wins and a bowl game? Perhaps it would have just given the 2018 team one more win

I appreciate your high standards for Nebraska coaches and agree, that 2018 CU game was quite winnable. Honest question, do you think Rhule's debut game is more or less challenging than Frost and Riley's? Strictly speaking to the opponents rather than a commentary on specific coaches.
A conference road game against a bowl team? I would consider the Minnesota game to be tougher.

Obviously then, Rhule is in a difficult spot right out of the gate. Debut games can somewhat set the tone for a season. How important is it that he win? Will Huskers fans be okay with a competitive loss as progress (we've seen a lot of those the past few years).

Perhaps even two more wins. If we had that game, we might have been better prepared to beat Colorado

Actually only one more win. If we play Akron our game against Bethune-Cookman never happens. Still, had we played Akron and then beat Colorado, you never know what happens moving forward. But BC replaced Akron, so we only potentially net 1 more victory if we think that Colorado becomes a victory.

Did you mistake Minnesota for Meatchicken? I understand it happens. Minnesota is at best a clone of the classic Wisconsin teams. At worst a cheap knock off.

Kong, Colorado fired their coach that season in 2018 and hired Tucker and we went into Boulder and **** the bed in the 4thQ..
duh

that is what I'm saying

frost opened at home against a 3-win team that fired its coach

openers don't get much easier than that. absolute gift

Your mistaken top Gun, in 2018 it was MacIntyre last season and was fired after the 2018 season, he coached in Boulder for 6 seasons.
Buffs hired Mel Tucker for the 2019 season before Michigan State hired him away from Colorado for the Covid season..

So CU won 5 games and fired its coach in 2018

point stands - that was as easy a home opener (by default due to Akron getting canceled) as has ever been scheduled

There are bad posts, there are awful posts and then there is this one
This was your original post. Both are incorrect, Colorado was 5-7 the previous year…

What exactly are you terrified of? It’s Minnesota, not Georgia. The last three years they have beat us by a TD by running a bunch of rugby scrums and waiting for us to implode. Maybe they do it again, but they aren’t anything to be terrified of.

I like our chances in this game better than against Colorado and they’re completely new team those first two games we got to go at least one and one or it’s gonna be a long year

Going into those two circuses the first two weeks and losing both would be devastating.
