He’s not firing Fred this year.

If we finish at the bottom of the Big Ten again, he won't have a choice. After tonight, that is looking pretty likely. Don't see many more wins left on the schedule.

Should have hired TJ Otzelberger instead. His Iowa State teams look like what we expected Fred's teams to look like here.

I’m not sure what Ty Lue has done to prove he’d be a good college coach or even wants to. Watching Lebron win an NBA title is not it. Fred had a better resume and he’s sucked. Ty Lue is never going to coach here

Why do so many Husker fans salivate over an Iowa State coach?

At least two posters are so close to Lue they can boldly state his career path with finality. Just how many of you are in his close circle of friends?

How many coaches do we need to go through in Men's BB before we realize that it's not the coaches?

Please expound on this for me... I've wondered the same thing... I really don't like basketball at all so I don't pay attention... that said, how F'n hard is it to get a team competitive? Nebraska has sucked at Basketball since as long as I can remember and I'm almost 50

my circle of friends with Nebraska connections begins and ends with the late BN Greenberg, who was my optometrist in the 60s-70s and president of the Board of Regents....and my supplier of hoops tickets...:)

Maybe Trev's big strategy is hiring guys who can sell "prepare you for the League" to recruits? Seems to be a big narrative with Rhule. I can see it 🤷‍♂️

Yea but he also hired a guy in Rhule with a lot of college experience, more so than his ability to put guys in the league IMO.

Hiring is such a guess...look at Nova?

Coach Neptune from Fordham took over a Final Four team and turned them into Fordham....

That was supposed to be Hoiberg's strategy. And he has put two guys into the league in two years. But it hasn't translated into any team success here.

Meanwhile, his protege at Iowa State came in and turned them into a Sweet 16 team right away after they went 2-22 the year before. The new guy at Kansas State has come in and has them at 14-1, after they went 14-17 last year.

I think the next strategy should be to hire the best assistant coach we can get as the next head coach. We've tried the mid-major strategy several times, we tried the NBA strategy...we haven't tried the top assistant route yet.

So what is it then?
Lack of tradition, Lack of fan support, Lack of D1 talent, Lack of interest nationally, Lack of continuity in staff and admin, lack of stability, and finally...The state of Nebraska..remember..."It's not for everyone."

Im a supporter of staying the course at this point. The only way to build on anything that I listed above, is at the very least having stability and cohesiveness in the coaching staff and basketball/AD departments. Jumping ship every 5 years is a recipe for what we've had for the last 30 years.
