I had a good friend whose heart stopped and his wife heard him gurgle. She woke up to find him blue and unresponsive. Fortunately his 30 year old son was there working in their basement. He ran upstairs, threw his 230 lb dad on the floor and started CPR. When the EMTs got there they tried shocking his heart twice trying to restart it. Finally on the 4th attempt at the hospital they got his heart going. He was unconscious so he didn’t get to enjoy the 30 minute chopper ride to a heart hospital where they cooled his body temp I think to 92F for 2-3 days before they warmed him and woke him up. I visited him the day after they woke him up and you would never have known his brain had been without oxygen. He lived another 10 years to see and enjoy 4 grandkids before complications from COVID got him.

Thankfully is son was there to perform CPR to assist with oxygen to the brain. As I was told from a Dr friend the brain ceases to function in as little as 10 minutes with no oxygen.

What was really amazing was how many times they tried to convert him and how long he was unconscious. In this case CPR was very effective. His son is a big guy and his dad had very sore ribs when they woke him up. We really didn’t know if anybody would be home when they woke him up. The cooling is done I guess to prevent cerebral swelling.

I suspect Leach being 50+lbs overweight had more to do with his heart attack than a virus or vaccination status ……. It’s always easier to blame something other than your own bad habits

Old neighbor lady who checked in at a svelte 300lbs + once went to her doctor seeking help getting some $$$ from her employer for getting hurt on the job...Doctor told her "You didn't hurt your back because of your job, you hurt you back because you're 150lbs over weight" Ooooooh man did that cause a **** storm. I guess you're not allowed to say that stuff anymore, weird. Thought that is why people went to the doctor, to find out what the problem is and how to fix it.

Dont believe Mike was really that overweight. He was def no BB at Illinois. I think the take home here is, this could happen to any of us, any day, any place. Live your life while you still can and enjoy the hell out of it.

Every American over the age of 8 should be CPR certified & re-certified annually. There is literally zero logical reason for this not to be the case & it literally saves lives in cases like these

He had return of circulation (a pulse) once he got medical attention - it was the brain injury from lack of oxygen that proved fatal.

There are lots of options for a 61 yo after a massive MI even with 5% heart function if the brain is intact

Not only CPR, but there are many life skills and safety classes that would be so much better taught than some of the things they have in schools. Basic financial awareness, gun safety, and other life events.
