I mentioned this yesterday on the thread Peetz in Lincoln..
He turned down the job because the job would have required him to spend more time away from his family..

FWIW.

If that's the case, good call by him and for the team, too. If you are unhappy with the conditions, then you won't perform well and the negativity will spread.

Odd that the Nebraska job would have been more demanding than his current job unless he just doesn't want go on the road recruiting. Oh well, better to know now than later.

Rhule wants grinders who are going to put in the hours. This is why he is going with these younger guys. Next man up. We just had 5 years of mailing it in.

No recruiting in the NFL. Six weeks off in the off season. I could see how a guy with 7 kids might prefer that.

We only want guys here who want to be here.
I suspect he wanted to be back in Nebraska but the terms didn’t work. I kind of wondered why he would leave the NFL with games left to come back to NU. I suspect Rhule wanted him now and he wanted to fulfill his contract. Personally I’m not disappointed. Seems like a good guy but I believe Rhule will be able to find another quality guy.

I think Rhule might want to revisit staff roles now. Having Sat coach QB/OC would make sense. And having Foley coach ST/TE would free up another spot to hire another coach, unless they planned on him being assistant OL coach or something like that.

I would update my staff post, but it seems to have disappeared off this forum.

Shoot with 7 kids, perhaps he should take a job that requires him to be away from home. Either that or put a TV in the bedroom. FFS

NFL jobs are generally less hours than College when you factor in recruiting and travel. The NFL actually has an offseason.

Have Satterfield coach QBs and bring back Beckton. I know he's not a young guy, but Beckton's Tight Ends always seemed to improve, and he has great recruiting connections down south.

I brought up Jake a few times last for QB Coach when Frost was clearing house. (Didn’t know a whole lot about him @ the time). The mass opinion then was he sucked. But then Rhule hired him and he was all of a sudden the GOAT. Now that he’s not coming here, can we just go back to the narrative that he sucks again? 🤷‍♂️

And yes he’s been everywhere but that’s part due to no one really pushes to keep him

What about Glenn Thomas? I assume he was not retained by ASU. Coached QBs for Rhule at Temple and Baylor.

I can’t see that happening. TE just hasn’t been a big part of Rhule’s scheme in a pretty long time. And really Satterfield’s too excluding yardage from the H-Back role.

If your not going to put a heavy importance on getting yardage from the TE spot, why I have a coach just for that one spot? Why not use it that spot specifically for QB? It’s the most important spot on the field.

Granted Beckton is a good coach and it’s tuff to lose him but it’s what it was

No ill will towards teh guy. Don't commit to a position that doesn't fit your lifestyle. Plenty of other good coaches out there.

Having some flexibility in roles on your staff is probably a good thing.

Peetz was brought up as an OC and I didn’t want that. He would have been fine as Rhule’s QB coach
