Matt Rhule, I’m a let you finish about how it takes 3 to 4 years to do it.

But Lincoln did it in one year

If we have a Heisman winner at QB next year, we should probably be in the Conference Championship Game too. Hopefully we win - Lincoln looks like his doors about to be blown off.

USC in the five years before Lincoln took over
11-3, 5-7, 8-5, 5-1 and 4-8 and he brought a Heisman candidate QB with him. Overall record 33-24.

NU in the five years before Matt took over
4-8, 5-7, 3-5, 3-9 and 4-8. Overall record 19-37.

Yep, that’s totally the same situation.

Did Ye have any advice for Matt on how to get blown out by a 9-3 team in the conference championship game and lose a spot in the College Playoffs?

You mean like how Temple was 9-4, 8-4, 9-4, and 4-7 before Rhule?

Or Baylor 10-3, 8-5, 11-2, 11-2, 10-3, and 7-6 before Rhule?

Still trying to figure out how Matt gets credit for the “winning culture” at those schools when he had the most single season losses at both schools in a very very long time. An 11 loss season is a record @ Baylor BTW.

-And I also believe you’ll find Nebraska had higher recruiting classes then SC 3 out of the last 4 years ….

The advice would probably be, a “11-2 regular season and really close to making the college playoff in year one is a great first year”

Yet I’m sure your in the “give Matt a year or 2” camp.

Oh do you mean a lot of kids transfered out and a lot of recruits decom?

Wait a minute, that sounds a lot like…

@Yantzeee, rather than crusading against Rhule, recognize what he inherited at Baylor not several years before, but in the immediate aftermath of the scandal that left him with 45 scholarship players when he arrived on campus. Let me reiterate… 45. Be objective now… 1-11 in his first year shouldn’t be a huge shock. And yet you want To continue to claim he is riding Briles’ coattails.

Briles’ coat was shredded by the scandal and there was nothing left for Rhule to ride. Let that one go, my friend.

They went to a bowl game in 2016, that was immediate aftermath of Art Briles.

Look I’m not throwing Shades as much at Rhule as much as I am at fans that think Rhule should have like 3 to 4 years to start winning. Maybe the definition of winning is where we differ too. In my opinion in todays world Matt should go to a bowl game year 1. Comparing 2017 to 2023 is apples and oranges. The world has massively changed not only as a culture but in college football. 2016 vs 2023 as a culture is like comparing 1961 to 1968. Much different times.

And for football You have way more resources to turn a program around quicker today then 2017. (again; my definition is improvement and a 6 win bowl game season would be that).

And after listing to Rhule on Eisen show I don’t think he really loves the idea he’s a year 3 guy. Anyone whose a competitor wouldn’t like that. I just hope he comes in hungry ready to win. And not a “process guy”. He’s not a chicken salad guy. But he has resources to do much more now then he did in 2017

Who said this? I seriously doubt you can find a single post where someone thinks Rhule should have 3-4 years to start winning.

Edit: FYI, I agree with you that the base expectation should be a year 1 bowl game.

It's a good thing Trev didn't take your advice and hire Mickey. If he did our head coach would be in the Lancaster County Penitentiary right now.

I kinda equate out team to a train that drove off of a collapsed bridge into a rocky valley. Sure, look around down there for something good that might be useful, but do not expect to find much down there.

Yeah because it was a completely stable situation at Baylor when Matt took over. Several rapists expelled from the school and a bunch transferred out. They lost 40 scholarship players, Matt only had 45 scholarship players left when he got there. Not even sure if they were the top scholarship athletes.

I’m sorry, I didn’t hear about the rape gang at USC that diminished the scholarship numbers there before Lincoln took over. Please do tell or provide a link to the stories about the rape culture at USC.

Jim Grobe did fine with it

Matt at least had an excuse for all the players leaving in Waco: what’s the excuse in Lincoln?

Maybe. Or maybe Mickey isn’t even arrested and none of that even happens because he’s not at home to find his wife being unfaithful because he’s at work. 🤷‍♂️

Some people don’t see how everything alters everything

Wow, it takes a lot of stupid for you to make some of the stretches you make to try and prove your point.

Is that even a complete sentence? 😂

“ takes a lot of stupid for you “. LOL

not a grammar nazi. Just funny to see some one call another stupid with such a wordy sentence

Beside your the one making excuses for Rhule. And you can’t defend why Grobe was able to do well during the aftermath.

Name calling is a way to show you have no answers

Why do we have a picture of that Nazi loving bigot on here
He’s been crazy for years no matter what has come out of his mouth. The picture shows he was crazy then but some people loved what he said and they cheered him on.

The latest round of crazy just cements that he is crazy and easily able to be used by others

What’s wrong with being patient with the new coach? It’s counterproductive to say you’re going restore Nebraska back to being a developmental program and then proceed to take a win right away at all costs approach.

Rhule has an 8 year contract which means he'll get a minimum of 4 years before he gets fired even if he is really bad. I expect us in a bowl next year but he won't be going anywhere for a while. Might as well hope for the best until you see a reason not to have hope

Notre Dame’s starting QB just entered the portal. So far the biggest loss we have is a freshman linebacker who only started due to injuries to our starters. Methinks your panties are in a wad a little early. Normally before the liberalized transfer rules we were having 10+ guys leave.

I’m not sure of all the details, but I’m thinking when Grobe took over the sanctions weren’t added to Baylor yet. He still had a full complement of scholarship recruits.

I think. If I’m wrong, someone will correct me, since I’m just making assumptions.
