Let the games begin

Any chance we can play them every Black Friday & actually build a rivalry in this godforsaken league?

There's quite an escalation in the B1G coaching wars fueled of course by all the media money share. Each time a new coach is hired with an even bigger contract, it then causes the next hire to be even bigger.

You wonder how schools with less money will keep up with the super conferences in the future. Be grateful Nebraska is in the B1G.

I think it’s interesting how quickly they hired Fickell after we announced a deal with Rhule. Sure looks like they got sloppy seconds 🤡🤡
seemed like wisconson basicly shadowed what we were doing from firing to interum to hiring. and their seconds are pretty good

Im confident that Nebraska can still lure in better talent than Wisconsin, even more so now. And if that holds true I believe we finally have a head coach that will not squander said talent and we will actually see that difference in games.

rhule seems like a coach a player could sign up for, and be in good hands

I was listening to some NU reporter last year talking about he was worried the press box at camp randel was going to collapes (and not from the jump around)...then yesterday I heard another one talking about it being best not to turn the light on in their workout facilities..

which makes me wonder, besides fickle, when they will upgrade..

Probably soon. In the next 5 years or so. But Wisconsin will not be able to compete with Nebraska NIL nor will they be able to take everyone that Nebraska can out of the portal.

That is a big issue for them moving forward and now I believe Nebraska finally has a coach that will be able to put all of its advantages together.

thats what I hear, some schools have certain hoops to jump thru that not all nil players can't get thru.
I think northwestern and cu were two of them

Or we did if we’re honest. We had no shot at Fickel. 8 years and counting. No one cares about 25 years ago except this board of 160 people

I believe Trev and the president of the university that Rhule was the number 1 target. They talked to 13 coaches and zeroed in on Rhule. I like Fickle but not sure he is a P-5 coach. PS. Rhule cares about 25 years ago, that is what brought him here.

In wait and see on Fickell. He is a good coach. But what he’s walking into at Wisconsin is not the same relative to the competition they play against as it was with what he was walking into at Cincy. That was a program that had played in NY6 bowls recently and been very successful in the AAC under Jones and Kelly.

Assuming he tries to run what he ran an Cincy it will be a change for them, both offensively and defensively. I have my doubts the Wisconsin program can be successful without the same formula they’ve used since Alvarez, but we will see. He’s also not taking over 2014 Wisconsin.

I’d say they got firsts. Fickle is a bigger name than Rhule to recruits. Way more prominent in the college ranks today

I can guarantee you that if we hired Fickell and Wisky hired Rhule, some fans would be crying that we got seconds and they obviously got the better coach. Fickell went 6-7 at Ohio State, then went to a good AAC program and won big. Fans would view it a Frost 2.0.

Why,? Wisconsin game with Minnesota is the longest playing rivalry in college football (131 years) series is tied at 62-62-8 and have had a lot of bad history between them..

Somebody must because ESPN choose the game while Nebraska/Ioway, Purdue/Indiana, Illinois/ NW were all on BTN.
they should rename it the “tree falling in the forest game” because literally zero people notice it’s happening

let’s be honest only game anyone cares about in the last week is Michigan and Ohio St..
Further more because of thanksgiving giving weekend the conference plays games close to proximity and USC and UCLA will end the season when they enter the conference..

Thus, Nebraska vs Wisconsin every Black Friday starting in 2023

Would be good for the B1G

Minn and iowa barely have any fans & that Wisc game eats into the dirt rats’ ice fishing season

Maybe you can ask the question on the io_ay board and ask them who they prefer to play Minnesota or Wisconsin?😂

I don’t think their too found playing us on Black Friday either..

The biggest hurdle Fickell will have when recruiting HS players to Wisconsin's is admissions requirements, not all students can attend Wisconsin if their test scores are not above the normal parameters for most colleges.

It would be nice if all students had the same test scores and could attend any institution of higher learning but that's not the case. I'm sure Fickell will do well at Wisconsin but you know he'll bolt if the OSU job ever opens up and that's a fact.

I'm sure many Nebraska fans will feel the same way about Rhule and the PSU job unless Rhule and family fall in love with Nebraska and he starts getting this program to where it belongs. College football is better when Nebraska is playing like it should and most likely will, it will just take a little time.

Kind of OT, but does anyone realize Nebraska with a few other schools in the BIG has the fewest mile to travel (road games) when competing against other BIG schools. USC, UCLA, Maryland, Rutgers, PSU, OSU will have to fly across most of the country ( 4 1/2 to 5 hours) while Nebraska's longest flights will be around three hours. It's one things in our favor that factors into travel.

No. Take a lap.
I agree that Rhule is the right man for the job. Those that think Fickell is the better choice are confused. If an NFL franchise banks all their energy and $$$ on a guy like Rhule, O'brien, Gruden, it is because they have something special beyond. In these guys' cases, the NFL did not work out long-term, but their pedigree is far superior to Fickell. DISCLAIMER; I am always dumbfounded when guys like B Ruud have a lengthy pro career, but cant seem to recruit and develop talent better than he does. That is a mystery to me.
