I don't get the love fest with Fickell

Mabe I'm jaded but seems like another in a line if G5 flavor of the year that will flame out in the grind of P5...Hermann, Frost, Taggart, Harsin (that was always a weird fit), etc...

Solid Coach. Gone immediately when OSU opens up if Day goes to the NFL at some point.

JL season-long audition didn’t go as well as they thought it would, and that was compounded by losing to a bitter rival to end the season. Hints of panic mode in Madison if this turns out to be true.

Wow. After basically saying they were going to hire JL, they are now going after other candidates? This could get interesting. If they do get LF, I’m sure he would bring Tressell are his DC, which would leave JL looking for a job. Maybe Rhule should preemptively offer him a big DC contract here.

You had to wonder with every week that went by, the ‘loyalty’ factor meant less and less. If not JL, why remove Chryst when they did? Is Barry orchestrating all this, feels like it?

Fickell can demand at least as much as we are giving Rhule.
Doubt UW goes that high and Fickell shouldn’t settle for less

Osu may open up sooner than later if another couple losses to Michigan pile up.

Honestly, I could see Day bolting. He has NFL offers every year and if the OSU people are going to be on his balls like this, I could see him saying forget this and taking the NFL $$$.

Would have rather had Fickell than Rhule, didn't think he'd leave Cincy for any job but Ohio State.

would be pretty typical for us to get dunked on the day after announcing our "program builder"

They were the top two on my list, loved them both. It would be a good hire for UW, but I hope this whole thing blows up in their face.

TOS says it's a done deal. I'm not happy. I would rather have Fickell.

It’s weird, last week there were all these reports from the Cinnci side that LF was interested in our job, after we were pretty far down the road with Rhule. It’s like something happened and he decided now was the time for him to move.

No. At this time, there is no way to know if Trev chose MR over LF, or if LF said no which left TA no choice.
According to Sipple, Alberts drove to Lawrence, Kansas to talk to Leipold sometime before hiring Rhule. So maybe Leipold was his first or second choice.

Don't you think this is happening because he favored Wisci and rejected us?

I could see that. Could be why we had to go back to Rhule and offer the world, because the drop off to the next candidate was huge. We will probably never know.

Pretty good measuring stick about who made the better hire 3-5 years down the road

Exactly, I'm guessing the rumors last week about talks breaking down were true. Trev went to Fickell who said thanks but not interested. Trev went back to Rhule with such a great offer that Matt was compelled to say "Where do I sign?"

Just a guess.

If it really is 6 million per year - even at 8 years that is a 24 million difference between the NU and UW contracts.

I can’t believe Fickell would have turned down a 72 million dollar contract from NU if it was offered

I gotta believe Fickell would command more than 6
