I'll agree with the better running part. Seemed he was starting to put it together when he got hurt. Doesn't matter, we lose regardless of what happens in this game. I do feel for Mickey a little bit, he's had some ****** things happen to his team since he took over. Today wasn't any different. It's all still on him.

Where is the idiot who claimed that Smothers would become a great quarterback at Nebraska? I haven't seen him post anything about Smothers lately, lol.

Zone read is smothers best weapon.. not sure any were called today.
they ran triple option on half a dozen of his snaps

he handed off 100% of the time

not sure if that was the read he got or if it was called

it's not a secret smothers' only hope at gaining one single inch is with his legs - opposing teams know this, too

better passing and better running

both were terrible
What Husker quarterback has been any good in the last 20 years (I think this now excludes Crouch). The first Martinez before he hurt his toe or his foot? Joe Ganz? Why is it so hard to get a good Qb into Lincoln? Purdy is terrible and Smothers is not any better. However, I would think Whipple would have some plays better suited for Smothers. I give our Defense a B and our offense a F. # 15 on defense is growing into a pretty good LB,

He could have been in TO’s offense. Not so much in the pro style offense Whip is running.

I will say this about Smothers. I think he would give up his right arm not to lose a ball (I thought the bad snaps went away with Jurgens) whereas Purdy looks like he could lose the ball on every play.

Not surprising as our coaching staff refuses to adjust the playcalling to fit Logan's abilities.
This. Purdy sucks *** too. Try something different what do they have to lose? Games? Oh wait can't score as it is
******* Bill Callahan against USC that year throwing in the towel before the game starts.
Sad.

do you not recall his only start, wherein he fumbled during as critical a moment as he's ever played in?

to boot, I believe our own guy caused it

Sadly this is true, we've not had a gamer at QB since Crouch

neither QB got much help from his pass catchers today

always compounds things

Palmer 2 weeks in a row looking pretty disinterested (concerning)

Maybe it's because NU's offensive schemes have become too centered on the QB. That position takes a hell of a beating these days. Years ago, we recruited QB's that were physically more like running backs. They were tough, they were great runners, and they were average (at best) passers. Now, we expect them to throw flairs and flies on target, and scramble and run for the first down when necessary, and learn the intricacies of option football. They take a beating; when was the last time we had a QB last all season? (Aside from AM, and he played hurt most of the time.)

Smothers was playing hurt

Which is probably why Purdy got the start and no designed runs were called

Nobody left behind him on the depth chart
