It’s hard to overstate how bad we are.

We’re the beacon of bad, the flagship of failure, the emblem of embarrassment, the epitome of ineptitude, the understudy of underachievement, the culmination of collapse, the pinnacle of piss poor performance, and the definition of disaster.

Illinois is going to cruise to a W with ease.

I can’t wait to bring in new coaches and look towards 2023, even if it’s a tough transition year.

My argument was never that we are good

it’s that the rest of our B1G peers are as bad or nearly as bad as we are

thus far, we have looked very competitive in all of our conference games

again, not because we are good (we’re horrible) but because our B1G peers are equally terrible

I believe illinois sucks and I fully expect to be proven correct (as usual) next Saturday

This is why it is so hard to eval Mickey

Difficult to sort out how much the schedule, pure addition by subtraction or MJs coaching is influencing what you see on the field

Based on? Their 9-6 win over Iowa? Losing to Indiana? I’m sure we will be underdogs, but it will probably be a down to the wire game.
how about minny and wiscy. iowy defense kept it close.
bilemia has a very good d and a fair ol. we wont stop their running game nor their passing game enough. with a decent defense we would be about even or even beat them. not sure we have the jimmys and joes defensively to keep it close. not sure we even know how to tackle consistently.
on offense we can just throw bombs to palmer on every play and stay in the game,

I agree, but the schedule will always be very mediocre playing in a very mediocre conference

many on this board see illinois' 6-1 start as a slam dunk success despite having not played a top 25 team and likely finishing with 4 or 5 losses

that is what the B1G does to people, apparently, as all but 1 of our peers have essentially thrown the idea of playing for a National Championship completely out the window & are very content with beating your equally irrelevant "rivals"

Their Minnesota game was very similar to Purdue’s and it seems like they are a similar quality team. I can see a scenario where we turn it over early and they run the ball, have the ball for most of the first half and completely wear us down. But if we avoid the early turnover, it seems like it should be a game.

if we jump out to a 2 TD lead they're cooked

whether we turn the ball over or not their going to stay the course and make passing play’s when they need them and still control the game with their physical running game..

Forget their game with Indiana , their a better team on October 22..

Making them play from behind would be huge. They haven’t had to do that much this year.
Doesn’t this same subject reply to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ioway too?

When have we ever had a big enough lead on any of these teams since 2018..

it'l be like playing the same game for 240 minutes with 60 minutes of not much offense against ia

My guess is we will be around -11. We absolutely are terrible in power football the last forever years. Our defense and offensive lines continue to be bad. Running teams that are committed to power running game will continue to kill us. Love micky but am reluctantly thinking he doesn’t know how to commit to our own true power football. I doubt we stay within 2 touchdowns. Hope I’m wrong.

only way we win is great special teams and lots of turnovers from other team.

F*ck purdue

they aren't that good
your prescience is terrible

anyways, I predict it to be a 31-17 type game. probably be down 21-3 at half, but defense will tighten up a little in the second half and we'll catch a couple big plays. Illinois is just too good at what we're bad at, and they're clearly the best team we have played so far.

no way we win unless our lines make massive improvements over the bye. Hopefully we do

> "not that good"
> proceeds to put up 600+ yards and make 30 year old AOC look like Drew Brees

pick one, drunk loser

>"b-b-but muh bet!"

nah, you knew what you were claiming, cuz you already did:

your coach is a major liability (one of very few to have lost to our former loser coach)

I expect him to F up royally and cost you the game for the third time this year

you’re purdue. you don’t beat anybody by 3+ scores
yea. doesn't exactly send chills down the spine seeing a guy named AOC throwing to a former iowa player.
don't come for me with that weak ****, again. your predictions are worth less than the drunk down the street.

I suggest bombs to trey the first 10 plays, then a pass to washington...then 10 more bombs to trey...then a pass to vokaleck...then 10 more bombs to trey...then 1 run for grant...we need to win the toss and get ahead first....then it will be alot more fun doing the above...

I believe @thall_ is saying you can't read since you misinterpreted his posts not once, but thrice.

I actually think we have a good chance of winning against Illinois. Stack the box and we can shut down their run. They don't have the same level of athletes as us, and I don't see them having an answer for Palmer since they let Indiana pass on them.

Exactly. I don’t get the posters on here who keep pounding the optimism drum. They say “if we can just find a way to protect CT and give him time to throw we will win”. Really? You think? Trouble is we have not done that all year and we ain’t gonna start now against a tough Illinois defense. Illinois defense is going to shut down our offense and probably generate some stupid turnovers. Their running game will expose our front seven as the weakest unit n the B1G. We are going to lose this game big time. I thought we would get boat raced by Purdue though too, and we didn’t. I wasn’t counting on Palmer’s huge game. Take him out and Purdue does boat race us. So for us to have any chance of averting getting embarrassed by Illinois Palmer needs another huge game.

This could be another mismatch in time of possession. Their run game will wear us down.
Yeah. We are statistically last in both rushing defense and passing defense in the B1G. Truly, it doesn't really seem to matter if the opposition runs it or passes it. 😂

Sadly, I didn't know we were last in both defensive categories until just now. And Illinois is first in both defensive categories. If any remaining teams just run it up our butts and control the TOP, I think they'll be just fine.

They'll keep Grant, Palmer, and our few other offensive threats off the field that way, even though we've shown we can score rather quickly. But tiring our already lackluster defense will allow the opposing offenses to have a field day, Palmer can get 800 yards receiving but we still lose, and the opposing team will have the B1G Offensive Player of the Week.

Those rankings are just sad, and they point to a very clear difference between the two programs: coaching.
