Why isn’t Busch in the discussion to be the head coach?
I know some will disagree but I was impressed with Busch last night, he was trying hard to do whatever he could to make adjustments to win that game, our talent is shockingly bad, but I thought he had us in the right calls. I know many were pissed about 3 man rush sometimes but I thought he was trying everything and thought maybe be dropping 8 we could take away the short throws since they had no speed down field, problem is guys just can't make plays, our strength program is horrible, we are slow and have zero flexibility.

I don't think that he or MJ really want that job.
Busch is 57. I think he might be a very good head coach. I KNOW he wants to be in Nebraska. Just curious why Mickey and not Bill. Bill’s resume is probably better than Mickey’s.

I agree with adjustments. Both sides of the ball have made better adjustments after halftime than I’ve seen in a very long time. Sad that an Interim staff can do this better than Frost, Riley, or Pelini ever did.

You lost me when you brought up the strength program. I honestly don’t think that’s our problem. We were playing 3rd string walkons at DB last night due to injuries and scholarship player busts. When you have to play that many backups you’re going to struggle.

The 3 man rush resulted in several incompletions on 3rd down.

Other than how we played their quick slants, I didn’t have a problem with the defensive scheme. Maybe would have liked more blitzing.

Main issue was poor tackling (again) and inability for pass rush to get home.
I’m not sure those issues are on Bill right now.
Watching us over- or under-run our whiffed torpedo tackles is getting old fast.

I saw a few plays where guys lacked effort to finish or play to the whistle. Guys expected first man to make a tackle and let up, only to see first guy fail (we might say predictably).

Others have mentioned it, but missing Reimer was a massive loss.

Why not keep them both in their current positions? They seem to compliment each other.
I don’t know if Busch wants to remain in a spot as stressful as DC. I would definitely keep him on as ST coordinator if nothing else. I think he would endure the grind to be the head coach. Trev made a really good move bringing these two guys back.

I definitely think it's growing on him. I also think he is growing into the job. Not sure that means he should be the guy.
The national bump we would get if we keep Mickey would be huge IMO. Media types love the guy. Kids love the guy. If he maintains the effort and gets us a couple more wins I say roll the dice on him. You know you’re going to get a dynamite recruiter, motivator and effort guy.

Our guys look horrible, physically. Don’t even look like the same species as other linemen. Serious issue in the S&C realm.

It’s not how they look, it’s the lack of explosive movement and awful foot speed that has people questioning our strength and conditioning program
And I think that’s just who they are. Duval has had explosive guys but you have to have some beef in the trenches to play in the BIG.

Immediate help on D for next year is critical, coaches are going to have to recruit and sell like mutha's. Juco, NIL, and portal pickups (if any) have to be solid and make an impact in a hurry.

Easier said than done, right?

A couple of guys on both side of the ball could make a huge difference.

Irving Fryar had him on his podcast the day after he was named interim, and before the interview on the B1G network. MJ made sure Fryar knew he was the first person to interview him. You could see the hunger in his eyes and the enthusiasm in his voice for the job. Fryar volunteered to come in as WR coach to help. It was a great interview.

Duval is horrible, we need to upgrade to a more modern strength and conditioning philosophy, more speed work and quick move action and less on bulk. We are very slow. He is a big problem with player development.

I agree our depth is crap but our strength program is so far behind the times and our development shows.

SMDH so now we make the most important hire in 20 + years and see if it grows on them. Silly, Crazy, Moronic, Mind blowing ridiculous.
