Leipold or Rhule, pick one

It's all up to Mickey Joseph now. We can go back and forth all day every day but the bottom line is it's up to Joseph to force Alberts hand and I would prefer this happens. Now if the team stumbles with the remaining schedule I would prefer a coach who is proven he can tear down and build up a program and that's Leipold.
I would also prefer Mickey Joseph remain on staff if he's isn't hired as HC, he's a dynamite recruiter.

True, but it’s just odd that they haven’t announced anything new yet while the sharks are circling so to speak. Makes me think Lance is keeping his options open.
I’m too naive to really pick between them, although both seem quite viable in general.
My emphasis would be on the quality of assistant coaches they could bring with them and what the recruiting prowess of that new staff would look like.
My gut tells me Rhule may be in better position to assemble that all-star staff needed, but I have really warmed up to Leipold being a solid choice.

And by far very risky. Zero experience at building a Program. I can't imagine why anyone would take that chance
I like both coaches. But, Nebraska is not Baylor or KU. There is a lot that comes with this job. Way more than KU, Temple, Baylor, or Buffalo. There is a lot of navigate in the B1G, and the Nebraska infrastructure. Leipold would get it a lot more than Rhule IMO.
I kind of think for one, he might be an east coast kind of guy. I certainly don't think he would leave the program worse than he found it. That is NOT what I am saying.
I am also not insinuating NU is not STILL a destination kind of job. I just think it is for the guy that is the right kind of fit for them.
Now, I would be all for Urban as a short term solution, so it is certainly plausible that MR COULD provide enough success that if he DID LEAVE, NU could be set up for future success. In that respect, maybe no different than UM.
The question was LL or MR. I just see LL staying put. They may both stay put....who knows? Like I said....jmo.....
LL will be 59 at this time next year - you are very likely going to be looking for a replacement in 8-10 years … if not sooner
Rhule’s potential for being your coach 10-12 years down the road is higher than Leipolds

LL has strong ties to the state of Wisconsin. So the Badgers could in theory keep you from getting LL.
One thing that really impressed me about LL is that when Kansas lost their MVP starting QB on Saturday, the backup played relatively well. In most programs (OU, Kentucky and Bama come to mind), there is a HUGE drop off from starter to backup. Not so at Kansas this season.
That is true. Although he has ties here too and I think Wisconsin probably hires Leonard.
I’d be happy with either guy. Same with Aranda. Same with Fickel and Klineman. So far, I can find something to like about every name mentioned.
Though I think he'a a jerk, Bielema still really intrigues me bc I think we could get him and I think he'd do very well at Nebraska.

Klieman of KSt. seems to have a run first, stiff defense, good Oline - he might be willing to come. If coaching AM is any example of coaching the kids up - he looks good to me.
Sounds like he's going to be out the rest of the season. They do have a very solid backup, who has started games for them before. It'll be interesting to see if they can bounce back this weekend and how the rest of the season plays out.
Klieman is extremely close with his athletic director, Gene Taylor. Short of a Danny White/Josh Heupel package deal (which would mean Trev stepping aside), I don’t think he’s coming here.
Wouldn't be my first pick, but he could be a solid choice....I don't think he has coached AM up but more so just plays to his strengths which is running the ball. He is only throwing for 150 yards/game.
We should have hired BB along time ago after Pelini was let go..

Correct, the nebraska job is a career killer. Neither of these coaches go to Nebraska. Leipold isn’t leaving KU, and Rhule has much better options than nebraska
Just who do you think would come here that wouldn't meet your definition of "mediocrity?"
Bielema is going to have a blank check to fulfill low expectations at a school with plenty of resources, including a large and well-off donor base, great instate recruiting and brand new facilities. He’s not leaving.
And you are assuming Leipold wants Nebraska?
That seems, to me anyway, to be some of the wild card in all of this. A lot of assuming all these guys want to come to Nebraska. Maybe, maybe not.
