I saw speculation he agreed to it, so he could receive the payment as a lump sum, rather than spread out over several years and reduced by his new contract, as he plans to start coaching again right away. Seems like a good deal for both sides, if true.

Kind of a weird deal that seems like it'll work out okay. Usually these break ups are nasty.

No, but at the end of the day, there are not many coaches out there at his level and so the $10 million reduction would have been taken out of his next salary anyway.
