Speculation that the B1G is considering adding 4 more PAC teams in 2023: Washington, Oregon, Stanford and California. Could depend on an incremental media deal with Amazon. If that happens, it obviously would be the end of the PAC.

Overall, I would rather have AZ and not CAL
Uber wealthy alumni, ranked just behind Stanford for academics, YUGE endowment, etc. All the stuff the bow tie wearing academics who actually make the decisions care about. They’d be a great addition to the conference, IMO.

The thinking is if that happens with the B1G basically destroying the PAC, then Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado and Utah have to head to the Big 12. Personally I think though then the SEC has to respond and winds up raiding the Big 12 some more so that might not be a viable home for them.

Who would the SEC take from what’s left of the B12? Ok state? Some of the teams coming from G5 level? Trying to see who the teams would be that would be favorites to jump.

Oh, I'm sure it would be Iowa State and Kansas State in the minds of their fans. Lol.

There's not much else out there for the SEC unless they have a full on merger with the ACC. They can't just pick off individual ACC teams due to the very stringent ACC media rights contracts. They'd have to take 8 teams from the ACC to bust up the league or merge. So that leaves the Big 12 for them or the PAC teams that the B1G doesn't want.

I understand that, but from a football perspective, it's hard to be excited about adding Cal and Stanford. Their fans don't give a damn about football. They are both averaging like 30,000 fans in attendance this season. I'd rather add Utah if we're going to raid the PAC.

Probably not unless one of those 4 is Notre Dame.

The words "conference expansion" trigger me almost as much as "transfer portal" does. I'm getting old, grumpy, and set in my ways I guess. I don't like it, although I love that we joined the B1G. (it's ok if WE do it).

Transfer Portal means I truly can't tell the players without program and now I'll need a separate damn program to tell me which programs are even in my conference.

Ok, done with grumpy old man bitching, just as soon as you get the F off my lawn.

Right and those early games, at least for Stanford, the students are not even on campus yet.

Kansas might be of interest to the SEC, they definitely could use another "Basketball school".
