Two guys almost went for 100 yards each for northwestern. Remind me again how are defensive line and our undersized LBers were going to be good.

Clearly they weren't puking enough during training camp.

chins has been good the last few years but he sure did let the qb get comfortable in the first half. In the second half he did blitz but it was to little too late. No pressure just bring four. Worthless.

Important to remember that the hype over our Edge guys was from observations going against our OL…. so the level of resistance there may have skewed results.

NW also utilized mostly quick throws to counter our rush. Our problem was playing extremely soft coverage. Guys were wide open in the 7-10 yd range all game.

chins has not been good - he has been less terrible than Frost
the fact that some think we have had a competent defense let alone good the last few years is baffling

Team Defense - conf rank (2018-2021)

points: 12th-11-7-8
Yards: 12-10-6-6

Points I really don't like that because martinez would give the ball away a lot on our end of the field. Yard is his fault though.

But the most delusional post game comment that could ever be said was the Nebraska DB ,,,Buford I think, says "..we played the worst game of the year and still only lost by 3...that's scary".

Where do you start with that. it's week zero and you just played possibly the 3rd weakest team on the schedule and yes you lost to them by 3. And maybe NW played their worst game of the year and still beat you by 3. Buford there are many games and losses ahead that will make this loss look like you played great. That's the scary part for Huskers and Frost

At least him & Queen got $750K. And others got paid too I think. And SOS is selling a lot of air conditioners.
NIL $ had nothing to do with his decision

he and his mom knew these coaches would put him in a position to succeed

wait until he is eligible and able to play you’ll see

I mean, couldn't he disguise a corner blitz or something just a couple of times? We were told northwestern had two average quarterbacks coming in.

Thank you.

His scheme sucks and is easily exposed.

3rd and 10 and you have 4 backers on the field

Exactly, we've had a bad to mediocre defense compared to the other teams in the conference. If Chinander were enough to get it done, we wouldn't be at a 0.333 record.

Not only 0 sacks but I don’t believe their QB was even touched n a pass play all day. We would have had 0 sacks playing 1 hand touch anywhere. QB probably didn’t even need to take a shower except for his running to celebrate. Defensive pressure was the most disappointing thing for me especially with the addition of OM. Chins should have been fired last year.

Just to balance things out a bit the NU OL might have had something to do with it. This is not the same OL as last year. Skoronski, in particular, was all Big Ten even last season and seems to be getting better. He has buzz as another NU first round pick.

We were exposed with how slow and bad our DL was.
Fitz had their OL guys all over our ILB's the entire game as the DL could not eat their blocks and were getting stymied without the need of double teams. Rare did we ever see any DL get in their backfield and 90% of the time they were moved backwards like Garrett Nelson even admitted.

We were outcoached and will see a lot of that this season after that debacle. JMO

USC-ESPN scribe chimed in an article. So True! They used Buford's comment as an example.

Helton annoyed USC fans to no end by expressing optimism when the reality of the situation was terrible. Fans don’t mind optimism in itself; they do mind optimism when not accompanied by accountability and honesty, and an ability to accurately evaluate situations.

You can see the lack of gut-level honesty at Nebraska. You can see that players still don’t hate losing. Players are extensions of the head coach. To that extent, it’s clear that Scott Frost has not taught his players to absolutely despise the thought of losing football games.

No wonder the problems aren’t getting fixed.

It’s such a Clay Helton vibe at Nebraska.
