Can't blame the players for seizing every opportunity to make money. But I think I'll have serious questions about the 40+ year-old men who partake. I mean, this is a pretty blatant attempt to give fans the illusion of participating.
It's like that Adopt an Elephant program I've seen on television where you donate $, the money goes somewhere (you hope to the actual program), and you receive a plush elephant in the mail. Except with the Nebraska players program you don't even get a plush elephant.

Hopefully they will take their game to Instagram and we can get a lot of player posts with exotic cars, hot girls and bling.
I believe at Iowa the players have to sign up to work with non profit organization to receive any NIL. Not sure of all the details but I am sure Nebraska would have something similar to this.
as long as it goes direct to the players and there's no middle man skimming,
I can't think of a better way to directly put resources to bettering the

And while I'm not against players earning money, I'm not sure about this one. My guess is that there is going to be zero accountability by whomever runs this. It's a money grab. The players will have no one other than themselves who will make sure they are participating as promised.

I have no problem at all with this as long as everything is done above board and legal. It's voluntary so nobody is forcing anybody to do anything.
And what's so wrong with fans being passionate about their team? And at whatever age they may be. Frankly I think the older the fan, the more impressive their support is because they likely have stuck with the team all those many years. I have great admiration for those fans on social security and who still care about the team.
I can think of a lot worse things to do as fans, like constantly criticize and belittle the program.

Feels slimy to me (like trying to buy friends) but people are free to spend their money how they see fit so knock yourself out. I can see a business doing it for obvious commercial/profit gain, but an individual? Not just barf, but freaking barf. Plus, at the risk of ripping off A Bronx Tale, you think they give a **** about you and are going to pay your rent if you have a bad month? That comes out more harsh than I mean it to...I just don't get the attraction to giving these kids your hard-earned money.
The attraction is helping out and rewarding kids for their hard work if you're able to contribute a little money to the cause. There's a lot of time involved in being a football player while also trying to go to school.
Is it really any different than people seeking backstage passes for concerts, buying shirts emblazoned with images of celebrities on them or a thousand other things that passionate fans do? Or yes even subscribing to a paid fan message board (which does NOT reward the kids themselves but profits a third party)?
This is a LOT less slimy to me than a lot of other things fans buy/purchase (including season tickets) because the money actually goes to the kids themselves instead of someone else profiting off their efforts.

I'm 43. And 40+ year old men should know better. It's basically a in-person paid messageboard.
You don't have to stop having fun or stop getting joy out of things at age 40 (or any arbitrary age). People are as young (or as old) as their mindset. I know people in their 80's that are more fun to be around than people in their 20's. And I admire people at any age who can enjoy themselves and live for the day without hurting anyone else.

Let Buffett pay for all of this. I'm not paying one dime for pay 2 play. If you've got deep pockets and are an alum, go ahead. This is incredibly creepy and antithetical to all I believe. Get whatever who will sponsor you, but the everyday individual paying for a college star? OMG! What will we do???

Most of these guys ain't stars. I'd rather waste my money at a strip club. Maybe even a couple ******' only fans accounts.
Or better yet, right on campus. New reserved player parking right at the front entrance of the classrooms.

When I went to college (admittedly that's a while back) unless you were a privileged rich kid everyone was scrounging for a few extra bucks.
This is so gross on so many levels. People always forget that these are college kids. I get the desire to be somehow more connected to the program... but, this really is NOT it. It's creepy AF.
yeah, I don't think the players should be making contact with the fans on a message board...
there's trolls and you don't want to give players complexes if the drop a ball of miss a tackel..I'm sure the coaches are on that enough..they need to focus on playing and school, keep it simple..
I do think they would have a web page you could buy autograph stuff from..mini helmets, jerseys, etc.
like maybe type what you want them to write type auto graph stuff..
but not like " I promise to complete more red zone passes" qb jersey stuff.
but I'm all for the slush fund, so your least popular linemen gets something..like texas has
your only as strong as your weakest link.
have a husker store run it..so a player walks in when needed, signs a bunch of stuff, bing bang, back to practice and he gets a check later,
